2024 Paris Olympics

And it's 2024.... Why are we still dealing with safety pins pinning names to shirts in 2024. Especially when what they attach is the athlete's name, they can screen print that.

Rhythmic gymnastics women’s hoop teams is quite stunning.
Watched some last night... told Mr Denali that the hoola hoop inspired my Olympic aspirations and he's still laughing. I wanted to watch the ribbon events but it was past my bed time so watching a bit now

Well, MrP reports that the gym is extremely busy these days. Happens every four years.

Just learned 2 things.

* The Olympic flame in the balloon isn't a flame at all. Its spray mist and lights.

* In LA in 2028, the swimming venue is the same as the Opening Ceremony. So the swimming will be later in the Games, flipping with the athletics. That will stir up our progressive medal tally!

That's a first.

Wonder where the Closing ceremony in Paris will be. I don't like their flame, from the beginning. Supposed to pay tribute to Athens etc and not celebrate French inventions. So really the flame went out in Paris at the beginning of the games.

Did anyone catch the Aus Breaker performance? Talked about a lot on the radio but can't find videos. Someone described their performance as where the drunken older Aunt gets up to the dance floor late at night at a wedding. And the commentators comments were describing it, pretty much accurately it seems. Three zero scores to boot.

I saw it. It was baffling and every bit as cringey as your description. But that tone was set when Snoop Dog did the stick thing looking every bit like the drunk uncle at a wedding trying to demonstrate that he's hip and with "it". An indelible stain on a marvellous games.

A once off it seems. Not for LA games.

It's starting to hit meme territory online but it reminded me of Kath & Kim dancing

USA 12 up in the gold medal game v France home nation

3rd quarter

They’ve always won gold so perhaps no surprises tonight

Yes, how embarrassment. Fancy sending someone old enough to be mother of some of the younger 'competitors'?

Well, she is a Uni lecturer in breakdancing 😂 so she mixes with the young kids. But her age wouldn't matter if a) she could actually perform the required moves, and b) she was fit! She works supposedly full time. Olympians don't work at anything but their craft. So 🤷‍♀️
