This morning was manual demo with only the safety audio none of the fluff which was niceIn the past 3 weeks, none of my 5 domestic flights (SYD-MEL) had the safety video. Have you guys noticed the same?

I guess I shouldn’t expect to see a lift raft on my current flight then (nor do I want an opportunity to look for one!).I'm told there is currently no version of this video for Boeing 737-800s without life rafts, only with. That's why you'd be getting a manual safety demo if you're on an older 737 that isn't fitted with life rafts.
In 2014 they removed them from some of the 737's:I guess I shouldn’t expect to see a lift raft on my current flight then (nor do I want an opportunity to look for one!).

Well, that’s the thing. We appear to have the trap door but no safety video. Those things (or the safety certification) must cost a bomb? Surely they can’t be too heavy? In 2014 they removed them from some of the 737's:
Qantas plan to remove life rafts is in line with global standards
Independent senator Nick Xenophon has demanded Qantas abandon plan, which would save $1m a year in fuelwww.theguardian.com
That being said some QF 737s still have them in the overhead location
Agreed. Personally the second worse offender was the VA Mt Panorama one for the 777, A330. It wasn’t as bad as this and didn’t go completely off script, it was just also fairly long and drawn out, I remember getting really bored and sick of that too.I have written safety briefs for offshore helicopter flights. This Qantas video IS NOT a safety video, it's a promotional video for Qantas, there, I said it. Can CASA please step in and take action against this stupid video. I get it that they have to attract attention, some airlines do it well, the Qatar one before the World Cup, great, Air New Zealand, awesome using Lord of Rings, BA using comic relief but this Qantas one is virtue signalling
Possibly airline execs even prefer long safety videos because they think it will keep pax distracted to give the CC time to do pre take off activities without passenger interruptions.
Would they finish it iff with "Gidday" too? They should let the pilots script it. Short, sweet, and too the point. “Listen to this or you might die…..”
Would we say “short”…?They should let the pilots script it. Short, sweet, and too the point. “Listen to this or you might die…..”
QF610 MEL>BNE last Monday morning was the shorter versionI'm on a Qantas 737 trans-tasman flight and the video they just played is even shorter than the usual edit. For one, it skips all the dialogue of people introducing their magic place (e.g. Nestor saying "Welcome to Hollywood!" Is cut out), and cuts directly (sometimes abruptly) between the various safety messages. This is significantly shorter than the usual one played on-board (which in itself was shorter than the one on YouTube).
Anyone else noticed this? Is it up to the crew to pick from more than one, or is this even shorter cut coming out to replace the old one?
It reminds me a lot of the foreign language versions which are usually very cut (but this was in English).
