2025 F1 Thread

And finally the Checo news is official....wonder how long RB will drag it out before confirming Lawson
Finally.

Honestly I don't see Lawson next to him long term, nor Tsunoda. Yuki is too unhinged and erratic for the top seat in RBR and Liam whilst I'd love to see him succeed I feel he's too green for the seat and if he gets his chance will most likely not live up to the expectaions RBR will have and go the same way as others before him.

Of course I'd love to be proven wrong.

I'm not sure Hadjar, Yuki, or Lawson are the right choice!
Depends what they want from their "other" driver I guess.
Still think Lawson will get it

Thing is, he's remained ultra defiant to the last in terms of his position in the team and "certainty" of a drive for next season. Sure, that could simply be pride and bravado mixed with a refusal to read the writing on the wall. But it could also mean that he knows the contract is in his favour such that he either is assured a drive or a decent buyout figure for RB to oust him. We'll find out the truth of it in due time.
Completely forgot that PER was being managed by Julian Jakobi. For those unfamiliar with the name, Jakobi is famous for having previously managed Senna and Prost - at the same time, no less!! - along with others such as Jacques Villeneuve, Max Biaggi (MotoGP) and Dario Franchitti (Indycar). Put simply, the bloke is exceedingly capable of negotiating a contract that works in the driver's favour. Good chance that this is why it's taken so long to resolve the PER issue at RBR.

Trouble is, if not these three, then who else? Colapinto? Supposedly they've gone cold on that idea, so who else does it leave? Frankly I still think they should have given RIC a shot back in the big team. Would hardly have been worse than PER and could easily have transformed their 2024 season results. Would have then offered RIC a graceful exit from F1 and a proper chance to compare TSU and LAW before making a decision on their future for 2026 (new regs) and beyond.

Couldn't agree more....they got spooked at the mid-season break when it seemed RIC in for PER and LAW into the Vcarb and see how the season played out was over the line

I think Yuki's past behaviour has deemed him a bit of a "loose cannon" and marked his cards
If only Yuki could be calm and level-headed... just like their #1 driver... ;)

Drivel. Sad for Tsunoda whose done very well in the second team.
All the more reason for Yuki to be looking to greener pastures. Pun absolutely intended.
