2025 travel plans

Hang on... shouldn't that be in the 2024 Travel Plans thread? šŸ˜œ

Jokes aside, hope it wasn't/isn't for anything serious.
Nope, but thanks for the well-wishing! :)
Jeez you're right though! My thought-process was that we're moving into somewhere with almost zero garden-maintenance, and once that's settles I'm hoping to be able to arrange Travel Plans for 2025, I had 2025 in mind and hence blurted the above ... totally forgetting how irrelevant it was. :D

Currently booked and/or in Progress:

  • Several weeks in Asia for Hotel Matteress runs.
  • Various other trips, utilizing the benifits of status along with re-earning status.

Honestly, Fukushima and Aomori are great for snow. Aomori has the highest snowfall of anywhere in the world. Itā€™s crazy fun. Thereā€™s also a cool winter festival called the Towada Winters Tale held near Lake Towada. Worth checking out.

I've been to Tohoku twice, loved Sendai but honestly I need to go again (I'm thinking Akita in snow)...but I'll never do the kind of travel you prefer, clearly. And that's a good thing! We are all different.
I missed it in 22-23 season. They decided not to run it that year =(

But being in Tohoku during heavy snow season I'll just say it's both really cool to see but also a bit of a walking hazard. My partner on the first day in Aomori decided shes going to walk in the footsteps of a local. Then watched him trip and fall 30s later.

Also when blizzard kicks up, thats your day gone you're camping up somewhere nice and cozy.

Current Plans.,

NYE - Japan (unepexted HND - SYD release meant a random unplanned trip to start OWA).
Mid March - Tokyo (work)
May?/July? Either Queenstown or Bali, deciding with partner now (OWA)
October - EU (OWA)
Nov - SIN (Work)

I'm sure i'll have a couple more Mainland China, Japan and Singapore trips in there for work throughout the year.

So far I have a week in Algarve for my parents 50th anniversary, with a day in Frankfurt on the way there. Weā€™re talking about a week in Vietnam though.

I think Japan wins as the most popular destination for next year.

Just don't be going and getting arrested y'hear?
Is there a way to find out how high each city's or region's OMFG -we're-so-sick-of-tourists-ometer is reading?

  • January - Japan for 8 days (Osaka, Kyoto and surrounds)
  • May - Singapore
  • June - Europe for 7 weeks (Belgium Trappist beer tour, Champagne region, Alsace, Luxembourg, Poland, Granada, Corfu, Dublin, Edinburgh and St Andrews).
  • October - Queensland
  • December - Potentially a trip to the Maldives but that depends if I can snag some reward flights

I mainly want to go to a ryokan and soak in onsen surrounded by snow!
But yes you need ice cleats to walk, at least I do!
Pair the cleats with something like this:

And yes I have one pair of those even though 0% chance of wearing it here šŸ¤£
