Only one booking made during this period which I've submitted.

"just in case", I also submitted the booking IDs of the other two bookings I made on that rate (but outside the 24 hour period).

Note that one advantage of this rate is that it includes a double stay credit for two nights or more. For the three bookings I've made on this rate, I will therefore get 6 stay credits.

Have tried to make a booking and there seems to be a breakdown. Just says that rooms "may be available" and that i cant book online. WTF? Tried a few different hotels in different parts of the world and the same thing.

Just booked the Doubletree in Boston for my stay next month under the offer . Was considering staying there before the offer was released , so its just an additional extra bonus on the side.

Rates were all over the shop for BNE Hilton. The "Any weekend Anywhere" rates have been anywhere from $261/nt to $167/nt for the weekend I wanted, checking over the last few weeks. Last night they were $231, today they were $197 ($182 for sole occupancy). I booked, as I figured that's pretty close to the lowest, plus 2,500pts for booking today (and I'd rather not miss out on the rate, as the non-discounted rack rate isn't cheap).

Happy. :)

Thanks to those who helped me understand this. I nearly did it but in the end I did an MVP rate which was even cheaper than the Any Weekend etc rate for a weekend at a Hampton Inn in Orlando. No double stay credits or facebook HH points but flexible. Worked for me.

Now to get to it and organise the rest of the trip

@ Febs - Last week AWAW rate for BNE was $132. This week $152 so certainly an upward direction.
@ Ewing - I tried your trick of adding a pre-existing con No. (perhaps con being the operative word). We'll see how we go.
@ Newk - I ended up grabbing two stays I wanted with fixed dates with 5000 points as a bonus. The other 5000 was not worth it to me either, to lock into dates that I was not yet ready to commit to. Interesting that you were able to book an MVP rate yet you're apparently not registered as such......further evidence that HH are having some underlying web issues I guess, but good for you. I might look at that as well.

Must be the weekend I chose (I did notice other weekends were cheaper). I've been looking on and off over the past few weeks and never saw a rate as low as $132 or $152. Wish I did!

Just to clarify that anyone with an HHonors # can book an MVP rate. You do not need to register in order to book. Registration is for completion of "four qualifying stays or nine qualifying nights within the 90-day period of your choice and reach Gold VIP status faster than ever!":

As already mentioned, the rate is available at (some) USA hotels. Certainly none in Australia.

The MVP booking page is here:

Fascinating feedback about this offer on facebook. Mostly unfavourable. An interesting demonstration that you have to get things right if you are going to run a social media campaign. If you don't you have to wear the outcry

What kind of feedback? I had a look and all I can see is:
  • Couldn't get rooms (at the sale rate) for desired dates
  • It's not 40% off, it's up to 40% off (and more precisely, the maximum discount applies in only one region of the world!)
  • Hilton website not working
  • Couldn't get the online app to work
The first two are mainly just "too bad, so sad", especially in the USA where you have millions of people trying to book rooms at certain properties on only the weekends (and of course some weekends will easily exceed the demand of others) - yes they have plenty of properties, but still.

The third one is a concern, but I didn't have any trouble, even during the 24-hour sale when I expected that if a meltdown was to occur due to pushing bookings through the website, then it should've easily happened then.

The fourth one is the biggest concern, and close to the only valid one, really.

Finally, who actually writes something on a corporate Facebook wall that's positive about a promotion? Most of them just leave a "Like", not a positive comment. Only complainants leave a written comment.

I had no problems at all. Site worked, bookings made, availability OK when and where I wanted it. Won't know about points posting until after the stays have been completed but I can say I've so far had three AWAW two consecutive nite stays and two of them have posted correctly as "2 stays" and the third......well I only checked out a few hours ago. Not even I am that impatient! The other positive is the "Double miles" promo miles have also posted correctly.

all very valid points. There are 47 replies and maybe 5 positive ones. Sure 407 people "liked" the post
I just reckon if I was doing HH social media I'd be a bit unhappy about the feedback there for "all" to see. I would be also disappointed that there seems to be no attempt to follow up any of the comments/complaints. As an example I like the replies that properties sometimes give on Tripadvisor. Sure it's time consuming, and there will always be whingers, but if you are doing social media you should be prepared.

::I:: would look at the HH facebook page and see the promotion as an overall negative.

Just MHO and of course you may disagree

The promotion success would be judged by the spike in bookings, not comments from randoms on Facebook. While it may have been launched there, thousands heard of it via other means be it twitter or AFF and probably did not even bother reading FB comments, I know I didn't.

FB......what's that? ;)

(I must admit, I signed up to Fairly Boring just for this promo so I guess they sucked this little black duck in!)

I am yet to sign up. ;)

I know I will have to sign up one day but better off without Facebook for now.

I don't have anything listed under my activity, but my points balance is approximately 7,500 higher than yesterday.
