I can't believe how much people love those cheap cough koalas - I always take heaps of them on my travels plus Aussie themed key rings and they love them
Who do you give them to? Is it staff at the various hotels/restaurants you are at? Is it better than chocolates or just easier to carry?

Anyone that has been nice or helpful to me. I actually rarely give them at hotels because I tend to stay at B&B or AirBNB but will sometimes give them to kids there.

Restaurants often if people engage or are particularly helpful. Sometimes it's just thanks - I dropped my keys once and someone saw me wandering around the car park looking for them and once dropped my purse and didn't realise it - both people wouldn't have accepted money but a koala was gladly taken. When we were on the French canals we sometimes gave them to the lock keepers. Even in shops and post offices when I'm trying to buy something and people have gone above and beyond and I judge whether they will appreciate them and rarely have been disappointed.

When I first bought them out on a few trips my friends were very cynical, embarassed and rude but after a while they were eagerly helping me give out my horde.

These key rings are also good because they are all iconic Australian symbols

I like the idea, but personally prefer to gift items made in Australia (i suspect the koalas and keyrings etc come from China), so typically take Caramello Koalas and tim tams for air bnb hosts.
