I received an email from Flying Club this morning apologising for the error made in the original email , ie/ not 10,000 miles, but 100, 000 miles. They must have had a lot of queries from people to prompt them to send another email.

you mean like this one:

30% bonus miles with Membership Rewards Points

Dear The Rok,

We wanted to get in touch with you to acknowledge that there was a mistake in our recent Flying Club 30% bonus miles campaign email.

Unfortunately, the email stated that a return reward flight in Economy to London would equate to 10,000 miles as a reward, which in fact should have stated 100,000 miles.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Please click here to view the correct version of the email.

Best regards,

The Flying Club team

Are all of you transferring to VS intend to fly Upper Class from SYD-HKG-SYD? :)

SYD-HKG-LHR return has gone up to 200000 miles :( Not sure why.
12% increase in Redeemption cost vs a 30% bonus still works for me
plus VS is one of the cheaper airlines Redeemptions
I know Qantas and Singapore has better service but I the Redeemption difference worth the difference ?

Yeah I think in PE or Upper would be great for VS but not Y. but for 10000 miles to LHR I would tough it out lol :)

That has already been stated

Still don't understand Why you would pick Velocity over Virgin Atlantic

VS are easily earned but poorly burned when it comes to value, Velocity are harder to earn but burn offer significantly better value.

If you are talking about flight and hotel redeemptions I would really have to disagree with that VS is much better than Velocity
I just book two j class to HNL costing 240000 points with Air NZ Syd Auck HNL return taxes was only $600

I have little use for overseas redemptions, 240000 DJ points would get me 35 flights to PER in J by comparison. Given a $25 Avis hire in DRW gets me 1000 VS points I am happy to earn VS miles that way for my odd SYD-HKG One way trip as part of restoring my TPE return trips, as for hotel redemptions, again waste of time for me, 1 point for 1 PC point or 5000 flying club miles for $30 of PC points, no thanks!

Please educate me more it only costs you less than 7000 points for a J class ticket from BNE to PER That's extremely cheap do you have the more information on this?

If I read their website correctly, 23,077 MR points will get you 30,000 Flying Club points, which gets you PER-AKL return in J. That seems like good value.

Its been around since PE days, if you select the J classic award you can use cash to pay for the points reduction down to 6900 for any route in Australia, BNE-SYD its around $50, PER is now close to $200 when it used to be $150 or so but still a good deal, more importantly it can be booked with little notice, for instance if I need to get to PER today for an urgent family issue (such as restocking the cellar with Vasse Felix wine or the Pantry with Margaret River Chocolate):

NOTE: This only works if you do have enough point balance to redeem the point only ticket though, otherwise the system will never let you go all the way to Points + Pay option.

I was wondering if it's worth it to transfer some points over to VS and convert into HHonors...

Any thoughts?

P+P is definitely a great option. Do you go to PER that often?! My wife never understands why people go to holidays domestically!

Some quick questions......background first...
Mrs Ric have about 200K+ MR points and is deciding where to park them in view of this offer. She is QFF SG, Velocity Gold and we just join TG's Royal Orchid basically we will be doing a J trip with them in a couple of weeks time to Italy. Thai is offered as 1:1 with 10% bonus (?) whereas VS have a 30% bonus at 1:1. We will be using these points for travel out of Asia mostly to Europe.
1) Is redemption generally better at VS or TG?
2) If redeeming through VS, say for PE seating, can she use Velocity Gold to avail of lounge entry into VS lounges?
3) If buying a Ticket fpr PE, can we use the pointsassumed transferred to VS) to upgrade to J?
4) Or buying a Y ticket and using points to ugrade to PE and able to use Velocity Gold to avail of lounge entry?
5) Advantages if transferring to Royal Orchid?
6) Can you buy tickets and use points to upgrade?
7) Any ASA scheme with these 2 FF programs where you can get tier credits and mileage?

Many thanks!

Ric
