30 Nov 15 A new bus interchange at MEL AP

Forgot to mention I used the new interchange in December to get to the Christmas party and found it an easy enough walk. Sure, it's not right outside the QF terminal anymore, but it's a bit more protected from weather than before (even if the walk there may not all be covered).

Looks like Melbourne Airport has updated the picture on their website, just not the text (which remains incorrect)

8min from VA lounge.. So a good 15min from QF??

You might think a Myki top-up machine might be sensible, but no way too difficult

I caught the bus to MEL last week for the first time.

Fortunately the airport provided me with a shuttle from T4 to T1. Otherwise known as the long term parking bus.

I noticed that!

I used the Long Term Parking the other week and noted that the bus now has 3 terminal stops: First T4, then T2 and finally T1.

So I don't see why people can't hitch a ride from T4 to T2 or T1. (except that it's probably usually quicker to walk)

The bus was just pulling up as I walked past so I thought I would give it a try. The driver didn't bat an eyelid.

Yes, top ups are possible on buses.

And in any case, I agree with the crazy.

Ah maybe I was thinking of buying new Mykis which isn't possible. But that's good to know – I've never noticed a machine.

It's clearly a facility that neither MEL or PTV want used too much.

Are you sure? I did't think you could...

Seems crazy they constructed an entire bus interchange but didn't provide any way to buy tickets.

Are these still available?

[h=2]myki machines installed at Melbourne Airport[/h] Added: 10 December 2013
Interstate and international visitors can now purchase and top up a myki card on arrival at Melbourne Airport.

myki machines have been installed in Terminals 2, 3 and 4, providing visitors with more ways to purchase their ticket to travel on public transport before they reach their destination in the State.

Visitors can purchase a full fare myki card from any of the three myki machines, while returning visitors who already have a myki can top up and be ready to use our trains, trams and buses straight away.

Buying a myki Visitor Value Pack

You can buy a myki Visitor Value Pack from the Melbourne Visitor Centre at Federation Square, SkyBus terminals at Melbourne Airport and Southern Cross Station and from the PTV Hubs.

Sounds like a conflict of interest to me but...

Are these still available?

I used the machine at T2 arrivals to top up my myki upon arrival from SIN on New Year's Eve but haven't noticed one at T3 or T4 before...

I always thought the only machine was hidden away in international arrivals. I mustn't have been paying attention at all. Will keep an eye out.

It is indeed in T2 (international) arrivals. It's not easy to see though, and obviously, it's placed in the opposite direction for someone heading towards the transport hub. In fact, the only pax who would have a good chance of running into it are those heading to T1 for a QF transit (in which case, they won't be needing a myki card).

ISTR these machines were installed onlu a uear or two ago.

Of course from where the previous bus stop was a machine to the north end of T2 arrivals would have been quite appropriate.
