Who was the merchant? If Red is like other energy company reward programs the merchant will be 212F Pty Ltd so you wouldn't expect "supermarket" points earn.

The merchant was "Woolworths Limited Bella Vista NSW".

zzyss has confirmed not 3 points above. Looks like my plan has failed :(

Although the cost probably prohibits the benefit of buying from Bella Vista, you could try buying the prepaid Visa cards from WW first, and then use that to pay for your purchase online???

AFAIK this won't work, (a) because there's a $3.95 fee to acquire the card, and (b) because you can only add/top-up using debit card or cash?

You can only pay for the prepaid credit cards (aren't they MasterCard at Woolworths?) with EFTPOS or Cash (no credit cards).

Yeah, they wouldn't even let me use a particular EFTPOS card either. That was ages ago before that card sailed away

Where were you all earlier today (or maybe I should have read zzyss's comment this morning).

I can confirm from my research, fresh from today, that I was lucky enough to pay for the $4 purchase price on the ship sailing card, but had to transfer cash direct from my bank account for the actual amount on the card. Lucky me... but it was worth a shot. :)

Maybe I should have had a Bank West rewards account just to get some small bonus from today's exercise.

Any idea What the Surcharge % on transactions made at woolie, coles etc

Zero. Well at least for the major cards. Both woolies and Coles have very good merchant agreements with Amex due to the high volume of credit card transactions they process.

Bella Vista is the head office, there is also a Woolworths in the Norwest shopping centre nearby.

OT there is a trading store within the WOW HQ. Makes sense as they have a few thousand worker ants in there.

The place is huge and would have one of the busies/profitable cafes in town. The restaurant is all huge.

I was just checking my MR points, particularly to see if my Local Champion points are posting ok. I have been making a few purchases online at Dan's through Pricepal, and have realised that I am missing out on my extra Local Champion bonus points by not shopping instore. At least that's what I thought. Dan's online is posting as 3 points/$ and instore purchases as 2 + 1 bonus point/$. Is this new? Is Dan's online a "major supermarket" for points earning?

Just checked my account. Dan's is posting at 2 points per $ for me. I don't often use the Plat Edge at Dans because I assumed it would only be 1 point per $, but I did use it last week for an online purchase (click and collect through Pricepal). Would be interested to know how other peoples purchases are posting. 2 points per $ is odd given that Dans is not a major service station.

Edit - that purchase was in-store, not online - I picked up an item inshore when I collected the online order.

You should be local champ at a woolies supermarket. Then buy wish cards for Dans purchasing earning 4 points per $

Though you do use them for refuelling!

Same for refueling. ;)

I am, that is why I very rarely purchase at Dans on the card. However I am currently using up the Dans cards that I bought during the recent Amex promo. The last purchase was for the amount over the $50 value of the gift card.

I'd noticed the 2+1 points at Dan's with Edge instore (when I ended up spending more than my WISH card) but the 3 online is useful to know. Sadly I 've now earned all the Local Champion points Amex will let me

Yeah, my point was more about getting 3pts/$ online.

3 (or 4) points are good but if you combine a 7.5% off BigW card and 9% pricepal to buy at Dans online, you get 3 points on the BigW card and ~15% discount. BigW no longer available with Entertainment book but is currently available on Groupon.

The 3 points would depend on the classification of the bigw card online store. My last BigW in store purchase with the Edge card got 1point/$

Online purchase at Dan using Edge reaps 3 points. Thanks to Vitagen for alerting me to this. Combine with Pricepal (a la burmans) for additional discount.

I must have missed the memo.
