i have a current Platinum Edge card...i rang AMEX and asked how long after I cancel my current card before I am considered a 'new' customer for taking up this offer, was told 2 years...boo!

Applied last thursday, card arrived yesterday. Time to spend some money to get those points.

Signed the Mrs up to this on Saturday, card arrived today. Surprisingly easy, just signed up online and that was it, no need to send payslips/proof of address/calls to work like with virgin money. Mrs wants to order some shoes so will qualify for the 50000 points in the next day or 2.
Would of signed up myself swell but already got an amex with my Cb diamond.

does the complimentary return flight have to be for you - or can it be for a family member? We are a three member family and already have the VM TWO41 flyer card. So, I'd book me and one other with the VM card and the third member with the AMEX card if possible

The flight can be for anyone, including strangers. Some people even sell their "ticket".

Wow, that's an impressive price for a pair of shoes. :) And I was wondering what to spend $500 on.

I think I'll pay for my hotel in HNL. Could anyone take a guess plse at what the approx fees (exchange / conversion etc) would be all up?

Mrs just got her first statement. I used my supplementary card to make a $1200 purchase on it to meet the $500 spend for 50k points. But in the statement it shows she has earned 0 points in total. Does the first spend not get points due to the 50k free? I have emailed them and waiting on a reply but just curious to know if anyone else has had the same issue?

If my wife pools her Velocity points to my account, if she was to take up the offer with Amex would the points pool over into my account? Has anybody done this?

Yes they would pool to your account. Pooling sends all points across no matter how they were obtained (flights, ccards, hotels, car rental etc).

Thanks,
Just found that section on the Amex website. points for the spend are credited correctly. Just strange that it doesnt show up on the paper statement

For those wanting to know...

I already had an AMEX with NAB, signed up for this AMEX deal and have had the 50k points post to my AMEX account, they should then post to my velocity account at the end of the first billing cycle in a week.
