Great TR so far Amaroo. I'm also going for quick trip to NYC soon and can use some tips on where to go and how to save time avoiding queues.

The Memorial is a fantastic space. I was lucky enough to go the day after it opened, and again two years ago. They've done a really great job, and its a great place to just stop and think about everything that has happened.

I must revisit the Memorial Space. It was very much a construction site when we visited. The museum cataloguing 9/11 was just so sad.

Loving this trip report so far! Am doing a couple of the locations myself next month actually. Might end up doing a TR of my own.

After walking back over the Brooklyn and up Broadway for a bit of shopping ... I made tracks for the PH, and some much needed refreshments.

Lobster Bisque - accompanied with a couple of glasses of a crisp Sancerre

Charcuterie - enjoyed with a couple of glasses of a fine Napa red

The day in steps ... (18km's)

Oh heck! That Bisque looks great!

And the charcuterie is tempting too. Is that at the Park Hyatt?

High Line - another first for me https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Line_(New_York_City)

What a wonderful gift those two men have created for NY and the greater community!

I started the walk at 34th street ... there is an interstate bus stop here. The photo shows one of around a dozen buses lined up and ready to load. The number of people queued was impressive.

This area is currently one massive construction site - big money is coming to this part of the city!

I have that exact photo on my wall, took it a few years back and had it printed on canvas.
I just love it, you both have a good 'eye'. I don't expect to get back to NYC, but if I did, taking this picture would be my goal. I tried to get picture of the city on moving Amtrak back to Philly with my iPad. The window was starched & dirty but I managed to see the empire in the distance.

Great report! Did you ask about any (off menu) "plate of the day" on QF11? There was a mention about it in another thread...

Sorry for the late reply. No, I was happy with the standard service.

There are seating/viewing areas over major intersections, and the High Line passes under/through buildings - inspired use of redundant infrastructure!

Time for lunch! Pizza at The Standard Plaza ... I think this is a pop-up summer restaurant. Pretty sure the space is used for ice skating in Winter.

Sensational flavours!
