Just thought I'd share an email I received the other day from Virgin regarding a promo they are now running with 7-Eleven now through end of July:

Essentially, all you need to do is make a purchase at a 7-Eleven (either fuel or something in store like a coffee) and either scan your Virgin Frequent Flyer card or your my 7-Eleven card (linked to your Virgin card) and you'll be entered to win that day. One question largely unanswered by this promo is whether the domestic flight will earn Virgin Australia credits, if so I'll need to make sure that when I fly to Perth from Sydney on Virgin Australia that I take the most direct routing via Auckland, Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin, Adelaide, Alice Springs and then Perth :p

Your Trusty,

Competitions usually (and probably always) never allow FF points/credits to be earned. It's in the Terms & Conditions down the bottom of the first page you linked to ;)

13. Tickets cannot be upgraded and are not valid to earn Velocity points or status credits.

Over the years I've won 3 travel related prizes and that ^^ was always in the T&C although for whatever reason I did end up getting them for the trip I won to London  Not sure how that slipped through but I didn't complain 😏

If I am reading the terms correctly, that means I could credit the flight to a Virgin Australia partner like Delta to gain the credits then?

As for the remark regarding economy class, I'm fine with that for short-haul domestic travel. Yes, business class is always nice to have don't get me wrong, but I'd rather invest it in long-haul "domestic" routes like SYD > LAX than something short haul like SYD > PER. All that I care about is I can use my status benefits like lounge access and baggage allowance. Airlines, when it absolutely positively has to be there overnight and you're cheap to pay for shipping :p

I suspect not as the flight would be booked in a fare class that is not eligible to earn points/status with any airline.

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Not really correct thread, but will share anyway.

The community emails Virgin send out, those short 5min surveys re service & possible changes yada yada.

Anyway I get 1 or 2 a month.

Go into a draw to win a whopping $100 egift card, which I won, wish it was one of the 1 Million points prizes.
Had no option to select what type / business / company gift card so assuming it a standard eftpos card.

Anyone got a copy of the terms and conditions of this competition? I happened to win a flight, but they can't tell me which flight I can book.
