See, why can't more people sing songs about Qantas if they are so dissatisfied?

They'd probably be heard and it'd cause more pain than just complaining to the media. Plus, we have no DoT here or other authority to make trading complaints to about the airlines (the ACA does not count).

I suppose US-based airlines are a lot more sensitive to their media presence out there. It doesn't take much complaining at all (not even viral) to secure a handful of miles or vouchers from the US-based carriers. To also be fair, US-based airlines have had their share of major controversies, e.g. UA dragging the doctor off that flight, Southwest and Alaska major issues with 737s, and on top of that the number of airline mergers and Chapter 11s in the last 20 years is staggering. And yet - kind of like QF - they come out the other side like a clean unironed shirt.
