This doesn't need to be two awards. Australia to Europe is permitted via either Asia 1 or Asia 2, or via DOH on QR, or DXB on QF.

This would be priced as a single award provided the airline publishes a fare. You could fly CX via HKG, JL via Tokyo, BA etc.

You can search for CX availability via the QF booking tool, search sector by sector for best results. JL you can find via BA's tool (again, search sector by sector).

ahh so it's only through AUH that prices as 2 awards?

For a single carrier (etihad), yes. Transit from Australia is only allowed in the circumstances listed above... of which the Middle East in general is excluded (including AUH).

It would be possible that combinations of carriers would also attract two awards if those carriers don't offer published fares... so I think the example above AU-SIN-DOH-HEL-Europe was going to be two awards because QR doesn't publish a fare which allows that routing.

Just rung AA in relation to possible EY SYD-LHR in Feb 2018...(availability as F guest saver on EY website)
operator says nothing available with EY on this day or other days in Jan or Feb in F, J. or economy....
Has change in relationship effected ability to book through AA ??...or do I HUACA....

it appears this is a known issue affecting everyone. There were workarounds... particularly reaching the Fiji call centre (AA's aussie number) or the Caribbean, but it looks like those sources are also experiencing the same lack of availability now.

I'd try another couple of agents but it's not looking so good ATM. EY has done this before and the availability has returned somewhere down the track. But whether this time it is more permanent no one knows.

Thanks Mel......I did ring aussie no. and spoke to Trinidad agent...anyway I'll give it a couple more tries and so how we go...ive already locked the trip away with SQ...and was just thinking of treating my brother in law to EY apartment's! !

Hi All,

Im trying to book a J Ticket from PER- MXP/FRA/MAD/ARN/HEL ticket in September 2018. Basically, just need to get to Europe in J.

Can't seem to find any routings that are all J from Per - EU. All of them have an economy leg in them.

Is there more opportunity to get an all J trip if I call up?

Try searching from MEL/SYD/BNE to your European destination and then find a suitable connection from PER. That will still be one award. However I have checked a few departures from SYD and J availability (which is visible in August) doesn't seem to have been loaded in September. It could be a timing issue or a school holiday effect but it's always worth a call to AAdvantage.
NOTE: QFF is showing good J availability MEL/SIN in early September and SYD/SIN later in the month but they don't appear online yet at AA.

Good idea to search from the east coast, but it may or may not be the one award... the main overwater carrier has to have a published fare for the route you want, and not all of them may allow domestic connections. AA can advise you of that. It might be that you have to pay your own way to either the east coast, or SIN (the latter might be much easier and quicker).

Consider starting in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.

I have just flown an award flight in first class booked using AA miles. To my surprise, I received miles and EQDs a few days later and was credited as A class.

Wonder if this is a known glitch (which the airline name shouldn't be mentioned).

It does happen occasionally.Mrsdrron had it happen a while ago on an F reward flight as well.

Sorry to be a pain, but im lazy and trying not to sift through 113 pages to find the answer..

What is the phone number to call from Australia to book the partner awards that arent bookable online?

Ive found the 800 number on their website, is that the one or is there a skype or local number?

Australia only has an (02) number... fine if you have included calls in your phone plan.

The 800 number works on Skype, for free.

More recently I have found those on the 02 number to be often more helpful than those on the US number-mostly as you may get an ex US Airways agent who aren't the best.
If ringing the US number because of a failure on the 02 number I usually ring mid morning BNE time as it is early evening in DFW and the call directed there. These are almost all ex AA staff with a lot more knowledge.

Thought id just made a rookie error, called the Aus number and got connected to someone with an accent i will call Irish..no idea what she was saying but we got there..

Anyway i locked in a flight with a connection, paid up etc, then checked the QF tool and it showed the first leg available in economy only, thankfully when logging into AA it shows both legs as J :D albeit MH J on an A330 so im not expecting anything better than Thais 747.

The other option she gave me was to go via Abu Dhabi on Etihad, now id love to fly Etihad but.. it would have turned a 9 hour direct or 13.5 hour connection in Kul into a full day affairo_O

Anyway cheers to everyone in this thread, the posts i read made it easy enough for a first timer with AA.
