Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

I have an AA redemption on P fare booking on Qantas A388 (F, sweet). I've just changed the AA number to my QFF number. Does a P booking earn status credits?

No, it's an Award ticket. No SC earned on any award tickets in any class.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Occasionally an AA Aaward can earn QFF SCs.Mrsdrron has had it happen when booked into A class on an award.Though another Aaward was showing fare class F and didn't earn.
Obviously was a mistake when they have earnt miles and SCs.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Can someone please confirm or deny this for me. Booked QF F MEL > AMS via LHR. The LHR > AMS leg is on BA business. Are we able to access the BA first lounge in LHR even though the onward flight is in business?

Yes you are but have your inbound BP and the rules from the One World website handy for the BA staff in case of problems.
You will get access to Galleries F but not the CCR as that's for BA F and CCR cardholders only.

Yes. Under OneWorld 'connecting rules', the class of a long-haul flight determines the lounge for the short-haul connecting flight.

However, there has been some issue around whether all BA staff are across this rule, so a copy of the rules (Oneworld website -> lounge access) is probably a good idea.

Keep your long-haul boarding pass to show at the lounge at Heathrow.

(edited: I see PF beat me to it)

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Some help needed please. I'm looking at PAR AUH EY J for Sep 16 - if award availability is showing on EY Guest do I just need to book with AA over the phone? Thanks

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Yes, ringing is the only way but is fairly painless, especially if you can feed them the flight numbers. Remember the availability you are looking for on the EY website is 'guest seat', rather than 'open seat'.

So I assume that means there may be no AA award availability? Have used pts on EY Guest before but have only done one AA redemption online so far.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

The problem is that AA may not see what the other airline has.For this last trip we had JAL Aawards. On my JAL account I could see 2 F Aawards to ORD,LAX,JFK and same for return. But on ringing AA they could only see ORD on the flight to the USA and LAX on the way back. After booking again checked my JAL account and the alternate 2 airports were still showing availability.Fortunately it didn't really worry me which I flew in or out of.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Any ideas how I might be able to garner 500 points?

Don't really want to have to buy 1000 points and pay the transaction fee

If you have e-opinions points through Accor Hotels (as in you signed up via Accor) you can transfer your survey points to AA.

Couple of questions for smarter people than myself

Looking to book perth-sacramento-san diego-perth in y next February. I'm a silver QC member.

AA is currently showing that trip for around $1,600.

If I do book with AA does that means no lounge access using QC membership and therefore need to purchase a 30 day admiral club membership?
Use Qantas FF number or AA advantage?
Availability and cost of exit rows on AA after booking?
Any other advice, I've always done US trips on Qantas so a total rookie in regards to AA

Qantas club gives access to Qantas Club lounges and American Airlines AAdmirals Club lounges when flying on QF or AA flights. No need to purchase 30 day membership.

I thought that if I had AA coded flights I would get access to AA lounges in the US with QC, but couldn't get access to Australian lounges with Cc as that need a QF or JQ flight?

I think they changed it for a month or two, but reverted back to the 'old' system again.

AAdmirals Club and Qantas Club are now fully reciprocal agreements again... flying on either airline will get you access to each other's clubs.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Have never booked through EY using AA before, but I'm getting conflicting answers as to how many points is actually required from Europe to Aus in F?. Some say it's 90k (need to be booked separately) others say it's as per the AA Award chart (80k). Anyone recently done this? What's the actual answer? Thanks in advance.
