A (First World) Problem

Alright thanks for that. Was more a curiosity than actually going to fly Ey. But good to know.

So have you solved your first world problem yet?

Something that has not been mentioned is kinda like an F reversal of your outbound.
ie BA A380 F LHR-HKG (1420 arrival) and QF A380 F HKG-SYD (1945 departure) - that is, if you get it ex-HKG on Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun? Not sure if your travel date has any flexibility?
You could originate in a European hub and connect in LHR to avoid the APD and get to try the BA tasting menu.

With your outbound, do you mean QF J to SIN, then BA F to LHR?
Not sure if it would work out but you may consider BA 777 F SYD-SIN??

Unfortunately no A380 availability HKG-SYD on the days I can get out of Europe. The outbound is BA F SYD-SIN-LHR on 777.

scheps it is not totally solved yet, but I am working on it. With any luck I can post a solution by the end of the week :)

Well my "First World problem" required a "First" oneworld solution!

The key to a good redemption is being flexible. Nothing earth-shattering in that statement, but for me that's exactly how it has panned out.

With a few calls to AA I have changed around the dates of my trip, bringing it forward about two weeks and now booked my return, with both reservations ticketed :)

I am now flying;

PER-SYD QF J
SYD-HKG QF F (A380)
HKG-LHR BA F (777, will keep an eye on availability for A380)

AMS-LHR BA J
LHR-DXB-SYD QF F (A380)
SYD-PER QF J

160,000 miles, about $500 in taxes + surcharges and a very happy me. Don't ask me how I managed to nab F on QF2 in mid-August all the way LHR-SYD, but I suspect divine intervention. There really is no other explanation!

Thank you all for the help, I would never be using AA miles if it weren't for AFF... :)
