We have had a few Silversea cruises and I have loved them but their new model with included shore excursions is not the way we like to travel. The pricing of course has gone up to include this 'feature'. The new Door to Door concept is not for us and the occasional Port to Port have non-refundable deposit restrictions. Whichever way you book, excursions are now included. We are just in the process of cancelling one for next June - just not sold on it now.

How have you found the excursions drron?

The excursions haven't been too bad. enjoyed most. But you don't have to take them. on our next Mediterranean cruise we will have several days off and do our own thing.
So the problem is the pricing. We book as door to door cruise and have the air, transfers and pre voyage hotel taken out. It makes a fair difference -excuse the pun.
They are certainly more expensive but so is anything comparable. just like the airlines they really do need to shore up their finances. We will still go via itinerary.

Back at the ship we lunched on the Pool deck. Mrsdrron had the Caesar salad with chicken and I had the tabouleh though they did try and hide it under the green leaves.

Then walked around the ship and a few sights.

Looks like Neil Perry tried to influence that lunch!

And then it was time for dinner. Some slight changes to the main menu for this second voyage.

Mrsdrron started with a dish that I have no memory of. At least I remember mine it was the roasted cauliflower and fried chickpeas and was very nice. for mains mrsdrron enjoyed her red prawns and my prime rib was excellent.

When we got back to the room a belated birthday cake. We had got back to the suite too late for it to be delivered on the day and the next day was change over day so tonight it was. It was a whole cake but we just had a small piece. The rest was in the fridge.

The next morning we awoke off Sorrento. A tender in then a small bus to take us up the narrow road to the top and our tour bus. We were off to a wine tasting at a Michelin starred restaurant Quatro Passi which was a fair drive and a lot of very narrow bits of road.
