Sigh... memories - I recall a rather pleasant lunch in Laguardia, overlooking the valley, before heading back to San Sebastian via a look at Bodega Ysios (it was a Sunday, so the bodega was closed).

Now off to the hotel Gran Domine in Bilbao but first a slight detour to the village of LaGuardia.

We also stayed in that hotel in Bilbao, thanks to a tip from an AFFer….. fabulous, especially location.

So navigated via Google maps on the iphone but despite saying I wanted the toll free way it kept trying to put me on the toll roads. I got quite adept at escaping from the toll plazas. Just a few pictures of Bilbao on my camera. most were on the iphone and this was the day I destroyed it. So the few -

The sculpture on the far corner to the left of that last picture is where I tripped and smashed the phone as well as grazing my left knee and putting my right index finger out of action. Still not completely right.

So after coming back and cleaning up after my fall I went back to the Apple Dealer with my passport as they would not take it for repair without it. But on getting back they now wanted my Yahoo password so I gave up and will get a new phone in England. Cheaper and no language problems.
So then we had dinner in the hotel cafe with a much needed bottle of wine -the Marques Riscal Sav Blanc. First the menu.

And finally a shared dessert. A low calorie caramelised french toast with berries.

The view was OK.

Definitely worth buying before you go.The prepaid line was much shorter and very much quicker.
We started at the top with the exhibition of works by Serra and Seurat, Serra definitely is not my cup of tea. virtually all his works were like this.

Then we went to lunch at Nerua. A Michelin starred restaurant in the Guggenheim building but totall separated from the museum. They had the menu up outside. Just as well as I forgot to photograph it in the restaurant. There is a degustation menu or you can order A La Carte which we did.
