Just make sure you have your Tassie entry pass. You all line up,show your pass say where you have been the last 14 days-though if they have opened up to SA by then that question should be dropped and have your temperature taken.
could be a little more streamlined or have more folks ckecking pax as the number of flights higher this week.

Thanks, I’ve avoided the big jet services for this reason and flying QantasLink :)

Friday 27/11 was a public holiday in Devonport.it was for the Show Holiday which hasn't been held for 3 years. At the hospital it became known as the Black Friday holiday. But the best was the local radio station which called it the No Show day.As I wasn't on call it was a day to go bush.

now one thing I recommend in Tasmania is to drive along a few minor roads. You often get to see a different side of the Island. So on this Day I turned off the Bass Hway on C163 between Elizabeth Town and the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm.A little way along you come to this.
1606899623965.jpeg.

Where your berries will be coming from soon.Raspberries and blueberries.
1606899738260.jpeg.1606899754704.jpeg.

And later that day coming back the other way another Tasmanian crop-the opium poppy. It used to be a supplier of 50% of the world's legal morphine supply.
1606899879104.jpeg.1606899903648.jpeg.

1606899934581.jpeg.

normally they are light pink.I hadn't seen the darker pink before.

I then headed towards Mole Creek and my first short walk-the Alum cliffs. You go through some plantations.
1606900068446.jpeg.1606900092392.jpeg.

The track is an easy well formed path.First past neighbouring farms.
1606900169564.jpeg.1606900189845.jpeg.

But then into bushland.
1606900235138.jpeg.1606900254326.jpeg.

1606900273052.jpeg.

And in places nice views.
1606900305693.jpeg.1606900324502.jpeg.

whilst at the lookout I heard a very different bird call.It appeared to be 2 birds. When I demonstrated it to the local who I sat beside at lunch he said it was very likely the peregrine falcon.there is a nesting pair near the lookout.Sadly I didn't see them.
1606901965872.jpeg.1606901985178.jpeg.

1606902014511.jpeg.

On the way back i recognised the bush cherry tree.I did try a couple of ripe looking ones.No need to try again.I will go for the unnatural Tassie cherries in a month's time.
1606902127456.jpeg.1606902147819.jpeg.

1606902172583.jpeg.1606902215216.jpeg.

1606902244292.jpeg.1606902266018.jpeg.

The last of this walk.
1606902407220.jpeg.1606902424760.jpeg.

Now the sign about bush tucka said you will notice the orchards of bush cherries planted by the indigenous people.I guess this is what they meant.
1606902537909.jpeg.1606902556766.jpeg.

However as the indigenous peoples were removed from this area back in the 1830s these trees would have to be about 200 years old.I am skeptical.
The area was logged and this certainly doesn't look natural.
1606902687710.jpeg.

1606902794507.jpeg.

1606902821617.jpeg.

I now drove back to Deloraine for lunch.I had started late as I slept in.
1606903601773.jpeg.1606903622981.jpeg.

1606903645362.jpeg.1606903680590.jpeg.

Just outside Chudleigh I noticed a sign for an historic cemetery so I decided to take a look.It had lovely views of the surrounding farmland.
1606903886833.jpeg.1606903911714.jpeg.

1606903929753.jpeg.1606903949957.jpeg.

1606903978624.jpeg.

Always some sad stories especially how frequently young children died in the past.
1606904217073.jpeg.1606904238828.jpeg.

Some graves not restored and rabbits were building warrens everywhere.
1606904303228.jpeg.1606904317925.jpeg.

1606904340055.jpeg.

And the grave of a woman who died in August 1890 and whose husband died 3 months later of a broken heart.
1606904420942.jpeg.1606904439281.jpeg.

Then through Chudleigh a village of roses.
1606904535332.jpeg.1606904550018.jpeg.

1606904566370.jpeg.1606904582190.jpeg.

And a sad sight.A honey shop and museum which we visited in early February when they were still getting bus tours. Now a Covid casualty.
1606904676786.jpeg.

And good views on the Mole Creek Road outside Chudleigh.
1606904798116.jpeg.

1606904823130.jpeg.
And a feature I had read about when investigating Deloraine's history and which I had missed many times when driving past. The big coffee pot. There had been a pottery and cafe here who had erected this thing.Long since gone though.
1606904967049.jpeg.1606904981709.jpeg.

1606904999082.jpeg.

I had lunch at the Deloraine Deli.Pics in a previous post.good for a quick lunch or coffee.
I then headed for the lower carpark for the Liffey Falls. We have walked from the Upper carpark previously so this was the walk up to the falls.

Once again a large berry operation with raspberries, blueberries and strawberries.
1606940437952.jpeg.1606940454417.jpeg.

1606940474089.jpeg.

Looking back to Quamby Bluff which looks over Deloraine.
1606940560233.jpeg.

Then came upon this place which I hadn't noticed when looking at the area map.
1606940636558.jpeg.1606940680878.jpeg.

But I recognised a little bush hut so decided to stop.
1606940729494.jpeg.

Bob Brown's previous bush retreat.

The Liffey River runs around it.When I arrived there was a trout fisherman working his way upstream. When I got back to the bridge over the river he was about 100 metres upstream and in the pool below the bridge 2 reasonably sized fish.Photo didn't work though.
1606972997683.jpeg.1606973037913.jpeg.

1606973060994.jpeg.1606973077106.jpeg.

1606973099573.jpeg.1606973115241.jpeg.

1606973139561.jpeg.

Oura Oura means black coughatoo in the local language and there certainly were a lot of them.

Not far to the lower Liffey falls car park and camping ground.Quite a few were settling in for the weekend and the beer was flowing and the music blasting.Ah the serenity.
So I set off and the first bit is fairly flat, well formed track, nice scenery but a few obstructions.
1606973467784.jpeg.1606973483198.jpeg.

1606973500150.jpeg.1606973513033.jpeg.

1606973537299.jpeg.1606973555842.jpeg.

1606973584467.jpeg.1606973601616.jpeg.

Not all completely natural vegetation.
1606973620147.jpeg.1606973637767.jpeg.

Then a gentle uphill climb to a bridge over Quinn's Creek.
1606973936362.jpeg.1606973951784.jpeg.

1606973974564.jpeg.1606973991001.jpeg.

1606974007903.jpeg.

I had taken 45 minutes to get here. The sign at the bottom said 1.5 hours to reach the falls.I was a little worried then when the grade got steeper.
1606974113712.jpeg.1606974130208.jpeg.

I got to this bridge right on an hour from the start and wondered how far I still had to climb.
1606974196232.jpeg.

On the other side of the bridge I got my answere-no further.
