XFA is ferrying to SIN 18th August and XFB roughly a month later after delivery of XFJ. on lease return...

In which case there must be one more new lease, new purchase or major timetable reduction trans-con, unless they're been running "one-over" for a while???

The 737's are creeping back into the transcon schedule. There has been a few comments on here about this exact topic.

The 2 old birds leave
1 new one comes

A 737 pops up on the East-West flights, just to annoy people

One more A330 would create a pretty much perfect schedule, but yet again VA wants to be inconsistent :)

XFA is in her last week with VA! Flew on her once to say I've been on her! Now to get rid of B and all should we well!

So long, Awful!

My one & only transcon in J on a A330 was on Awful.

Why would the aircraft fly so far north and then back down to NSW? It just makes no sense that flight path :/

That really is a most extraordinary flight path for Per-Syd. Quite strange. Maybe it's some sort of charity/100% charter sort of flight.

Well the flight time was 2 hours longer than expected - so i'm guessing the path is correct... not a clue as to why???

No unfortunately it was a real commercial flight - VA556. I was on it. They only told us there was an operational change to the flight plan. I thought they might have been trying to miss the storms on the way in to Perth. The crew told a mate also on the flight that it was one of the last flights so they couldn't go across the Great Australian Bight.

Doesnt make ate sense to me as to why it would go so far north. We turned over Halls Creek and then came down via Alice Springs.

One of the last flights for what? Something fishy was going on for a flight to be routed like that.

My guess - HF radio was broken (or something else) so they couldn't cross the bight or Nullabor region as it's classified as "remote" on nav charts.

Total guess though....
