Has anyone recently flown on QF1 in F or J, used the AA arrivals lounge and the Chauffeur drive?
Is there still a 90 minutes from landing time restriction?
We are on QF1 in F this December, and hope to approach the Chauffeur Drive desk and tell them we will be back in an hour after we visit the lounge.
I used the AA Arrivals Lounge in T3 in October (having flown in on QF in P class). The updated lounge is certainly an improvement on the old, and a shower after 24hrs on a plane is very refreshing.
On previous occasions I've attempted to use Chauffeur Drive and the AA Arrivals Lounge, much to the angst of the Carey Chauffeurs as they are only paid for 1.5 hours, thus they can't / won't wait if they have a follow-on job. The chauffeurs also appear to have been pre-allocated as P Class passengers get the S series Mercs.
I have asked the First Lounge in SYD to advise the Carey desk in T3 that I'm intending to use the arrivals lounge and wish a delayed trip to my hotel, but on all (numerous) occasions that QF email message has not been delivered to the CD desk in T3.
However, in October this year, when I asked the First Lounge to again contact Carey, not only did they email Carey but they also emailed the QF First Hosts in London, and the message got though this time to the Carey desk and they had scheduled a chauffeur for the time I nominated.
So I think the secret is the QF Lounge needs to email Carey but also the T3 First Hosts and advise the time the chauffeur pickup should be booked for. I told them I'd be ready at 08:30 and the chauffeur rang me on the dot...I was still in the AA Lounge.
There was no one left at the QF CD desk when I met up with the chauffeur, it would seem to be unmanned after QF1 has been processed but it worked for me this time and I will try it when back there again in March.
