How do you work out the EQM etc... ?
I use Great Circle Mapper or the airline reservation information to determine the flight distance, then I look up aa.com for the earn rate for the fare I have purchased.
Mileage Monkey with AA selected up the top and OneWorld exclusion ticked ??
I have never used Mileage Monkey. I always verify the distance and earn rates myself as above.
Just for clarification (for an AA newbie), your codeshares are picked from QF website as usual, or you go through AA.com
Mine are usually booked by our corporate travel centre. They have an on-line tool where we enter origin, destination, dates and times and it provides a list of the flight options that match the corporate travel policy (which is basically the cheapest fare using the company's preferred airlines with departure and/or arrival within 2 hours (domestic) or 5 hours (international) requested time.
I often enter that on-line tool well prepared knowing what routing, times, and flights I am looking for. Its not the most intelligent tool and the results are not always repeated with the same searches, so it can take a little playing around to get what I want. For example, on one trip it would present me the AY flight numbers I was after at a very good price (the cheapest option offered) but only for departure the day before I wanted to travel. I could see from ExpertFlyer that the same flight combinations were available the following day. So I selected the option presented for the previous day and submitted for management approval with a note attached for the travel centre to contact me before issuing the ticket. Once the approvals were confirmed I was contacted by the agent and explained I really wanted to travel the following day. She could not find availability via HKG but could via SIN for $8 less total fare price, so she changed the reservation and issued the ticket for me.
If I have just selected the cheapest fare presented on the day I wanted to travel, it would have been the QF fare for double the amount. So I saved the company considerable money and managed to earn 100% AA miles on the trip. Win/Win as I see it. Just took a little creative use of the tool and preparation using my own resources.
What I meant was would any QF coded flight be claimed (say at check in) to AA, or it has to be AA coded flight to start with ?
All my domestic travel is QF flight numbers and I credit them to AA whenever they are eligible fares for AA earning, even if O or N class. Previously N class did not earn on AAdvantage so those I credited to my QFF account. But since a few months ago, even N class now earns, albeit at 25% rate.
".... AAdvantage Participant Airlines

Should there be any difference ? I doubt it, but just for confirmation.
Thanks
