I've found some stories online about the new First and Business lounge in Terminal A, but nothing about other lounges.

Does anyone have any intel on this? I'm hoping to be able to access some form of lounge when transiting in late November (and returning in December). Travelling Economy with no status (my Etihad Silver status seems to have disappeared...)

I see from another frequent flyer page that US$120 buys access to Business and US$150 to First Class lounges. So presumably that will persist. That's a lot of Australian dollars for two people, though, so I'm hoping there'll be an equivalent of the Al Reem lounge?

There isn't even a map of the terminal online anywhere yet.
Yeah, I went looking and nothing! Odd given all flights started moving and are all supposed to be across by the 15th.
And to be honest, decent public showers would probably do...
Well, that was always a challenge even in the EY Lounges. Not so bad in F but the J lounge you could wait for what seemed like an eternity for a shower.

Yeah. I've waited a very long time for a shower in the Al Reem lounge. I'm hoping the new terminal might have some decent public showers.

No - public showers only at a specific lounge.

Still no proper visuals of the new EY lounges.

Oh cool, I may have access with my AmEx!

Hi all, do VA platinum members still have access to the EY F lounge?

I have 3 flights over the next couple of weeks through AUH (terminal A), 2 in Y 1 in J. Just trying to brace myself for lounge options. Any recent experiences?

Thanks

For everyone's information, I joined Plaza Premium so we could use their lounge when transiting, and it was pretty nice. But not free, obviously.

On the way back to Oz, there was a massive queue to get in, and we figured that meant it was unlikely we would get a shower in the time we had available, the main purpose of going in. So we gave it a miss.

Thanks for the confirmation @jase05.

Just visited the F lounge, its pretty incredible that this is available to us even in discount Y especially after experiencing the sad state of lounges in the US last week.

Here's some snaps of my visit for those interested.

I understand the old FCL was better than the new one. I'll check it out in July.

I never got to see the old F lounge so will be interested in your thoughts, as the new one was pretty amazing for me (quiet, private, comfy, a la carte).

I flew MEL-AUH-DUS recently on Etihad business, and as a VA platinum, was able to try out the Etihad First and Business lounges at Abu Dhabi. We were ushered to a lift next to the reception desk on the entrance level, and whisked straight to the level where the First Lounge was, where another receptionist was expecting us. There was no difficulty gaining access as a VA platinum for me and my guest.

We arrived around midnight local time, and there were no guests in the First Lounge when we first arrived. There were about half a dozen staff, obviously looking to do anything to remedy the boredom, and falling over themselves to offer us food or drink. There was nothing on the a la carte menu that really appealed to us, and a limited range of alcohol. If we wanted spirits, beers, and other more typical bar drinks or snacks, the business lounge was the place to go.

So we had a shower — shower suites were spacious — and then headed for the business lounges. Buffet there had a much wider range of food, and the bar was well stocked with a broad range of drinks to choose.

We only checked out the same level as where the First Lounge was, and didn’t realise till we went down the escalators that there are (seemingly) one or two other levesl in between that are also part of the business class lounge. Didn’t have a chance to check them out, as we were heading for the boarding gate by then, but will see if I can check them out when we return via Abu Dhabi in a couple of days.

The much-vaunted spa and salon was not open yet, according to the First staff.

There were surprisingly few power points in either lounge, which seemed to me to be an obvious oversight. Many of the lounge-style seats, where the backs were part of the wall, and which did have power points at their base, were being used as beds by passengers getting some kip. Given there are supposed to be Relaxation Rooms for that, I’m not sure if that was because the rooms were full, or something else.

When we fly back in a few days, we’ll be arriving again around midnight local time, so I’ll see how the lounge compares again on that visit.

Photo below is the First Lounge general seating area after reception. Range of light snacks on the left, and drink fridges are the far end (soft drink and water).

An update to the above...

I flew last week FCO-AUH-MEL, and was again able to try out the First Class Lounge at Abu Dhabi. We flew on EY84 in business (on points, as VA PAX), which left Rome at 2145, arriving 40 minutes early at 0600 local time at Abu Dhabi. We arrived at a different gate, which saw our path from the gate to the lounges take us first past the Business Lounge entrance, and then to the First Lounge entrance. (We must have come the other way through the terminal on our first visit.) We saw the spa between the Business and First entrances, and it was obviously not open, and the lounge staff confirmed it was still not operating.

On this occasion, there were a few people in the lounge: perhaps 8 or so. There were no showers available — I think there were perhaps 3 showers available in the men's ablutions, and I presume the same in the women's — so the staff took us down one level to showers in the Business Lounge, one level directly below us. It seemed they were used as overflow (no pun intended), and although not quite as spacious as the first, they were very nice indeed.

There was a different menu for breakfast, so we ordered and had a nice breakfast. Something I noticed a few times with Etihad service (depending on the staff) and was a feature here is that the staff weren't very proactive and didn't offer anything or ask about refills or additional items. Nothing wrong with the service, but it's one of those things that take it from a good experience to a great one.

Coffee turned out to be just from the coffee machine in the general waiting area, which seemed surprising. I would have thought that there'd be real brewed coffee available.

As we were waiting for our breakfast, the Etihad app on our phones buzzed us advising we should make our way to the gate to board our next flight. At just after 0700! For a flight not scheduled to depart until 0950, with boarding scheduled to commence at 0900! I spoke with the lounge staff at the desk, and they were unaware of it, and just put it down to "pre-boarding". They also seemed to have no real awareness of what flights were departing, or when we should leave. One suggested we should make our way to the gate at 0800; another, at 0830. After discussion with a third, they decided that 0840 would be okay, given it was about a 15 min walk to the gate. (As it turned out, we left at 0850; it was only about a 10 min walk, and boarding was called around 0910.) The general impression I got was the lounge staff didn't really have much involvement with operations, and were really just focused on hospitality. There were monitors in the lounge with departure and arrivals info, but no lounge-specific announcement. There were announcements in the general lounge foyer on our level (and perhaps the business lounge), which we could hear in the First Lounge, but no real focus on making sure passengers in the First Lounge were aware of when they should go.

I had a bit more of a look around, and the snacks available were smoothies, muesli, pastries, and little cakes, along with coffee from the coffee machine, a selection of tea, fruit juice and water, and soft drinks in the fridge.

At the far end of the lounge, after the dining area and past the ablutions, was a chill-out zone, with "pods" surrounded by translucent fabric, and each containing recliners, chairs, and tables.

I was able to confirm there really were no obvious charge or power points in the lounge, which I reckon is surprising.

WiFi was fast, although I could not make a FaceTime call to Australia, even on a VPN. (A video call on Signal went through with no trouble, so bandwidth obviously wasn't the problem! I guess that Etihad blocks FaceTime, even if the UAE might no longer do so?)

Overall, it was perfectly fine. It seemed to me that main attraction is the exclusivity, and also the comparative quietness compared to the general airport. My general impression was that it was all a bit laissez-faire for who should be the airline's most important passengers. Perhaps the expectation is that such folks prefer to be left undisturbed, rather than interrupted when they're chilling? I know this sounds a bit ungrateful, and I'm very pleased to have had the opportunity to try out the First Lounge, as I'd never be in the position to purchase a first-class international fare, but I was a bit underwhelmed by it to be honest. Based on the gushing PR piece in Executive Traveller, I was expecting something...more. I certainly wouldn't knock it back if I had the opportunity to experience it again, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if I transit through Abu Dhabi in the future and don't get to visit the First Lounge.

Agree with your input @kylemcd.

One thing to note is that there are plenty of charging points in the pods at the back of the lounge.

Also, I've noticed that the service changes depending on whether you're on an F ticket vs J or Y ticket. In F they're a lot more proactive with service and notifying you of your time of departure. There's also private rooms with ensuite you can use on an F ticket at the front of the lounge (they might also be available upon request for non-F travellers depending on availability, haven't tested this).

Both soft and hard product is definitely a notch down from lounges like al safwa but still a incredible option for those on a Y ticket.

Have any Velocity Gold members been to the new Etihad Business Class lounge at terminal A ? In the old terminal they used to send gold to a Plaza Premuim lounge, so was wondering what the set up is for the new terminal?

You'll have access to the EY Business lounge in AUH terminal A. It's a big upgrade (IMO) to what they offered in the former terminal for Gold members.

Also note that if you're checking in at AUH, you're able to use the new exclusive Business/First check-in area which includes a private immigration and security channel.

I think I will only buy EY tickets from now on if we can access the F lounge with plat o_O

Hi - anyone else passed through the refreshed terminals at AHU and gone into the new Etihad Business Class lounge?

The new space has been opened for >6m+ and is gigantic as it connects through three levels of escalators inside. Food buffet has a huge offering and some made to order menu items. Great views of the runway and flights landing and taking off.

However, the most disappointing thing was not being able to get into a shower room! On both times, passing through in June and July, I could not get into a shower room despite having almost 2.5 hours layover.

When i asked for toiletries items to refresh, they said they didn’t stock any in the lounge (not even a toothbrush!). Most lounges use a buzzer system to queue and call you in, but the both times I passed through they use pen and paper and queues were 2 hours long. Anyone else had a similar experience?
