What cheeses me off

Some here may believe that is completely legitimate (it is legal, whether it's ethical or not)... of course, you get some who also try this on when the left lane isn't a real lane but rather a street shoulder (or parking area).

Not road shoulder but what drives me nuts is people merging 100-200 metres before the end of the lane.

e.g Centenary Highway anywhere you are likely to see the on ramp merging with main highway. Bumper to bumper traffic so everyone will merge safely but people still merging 200 metres before the left lane ends.

Why? Just keep going to the end of the left lane and safely merge there. It's not rocket science

On my recent roadtrip a truck and trailer did this to me as I was halfway past, forcing me over the double lines into oncoming traffic.

Oh. Was that a queue? I didn’t see it. Also happened at a bakery I went to. Mr pushed himself to the front. Then acted surprised when the next person challenged him. (Not me). But when he feigned surprise I said we were all standing here with wallet in hand for exercise.
Nearly had a fist fight with a Frenchman at a money changer on Khao San Rd 25 years ago in very similar circumstances. There was one line in front of two cashiers but Frenchie decided to create a new line in front of one them. I pointed out that we're all in the one queue and he refused to believe that we were not all in a line for one cashier and insisted that he was now first in line for the other one. That was the day I learned what retard means in French.

What makes it worse is that the AFL have seriously partnered with betting agencies. I loathe betting amd it's insidiously working its way into our lives and it's at the stage where son does not feel comfortable watching the footy with his son.

As someone who has been living outside Australia for 16 years but returns frequently there are two fundamental changes I’ve noticed to the very character of Austrakia than before I left. One of those is the infiltration of gambling money - particularly advertising which is so insidious . It seems that the gambling lobby and the laboural party are so intertwined that it’s a problem that is difficult to pull back on.

(FWIW the other fundamental change is coffee hysteria/fanaticism, back in 2009 people enjoyed their coffee no doubt but now the coffee fanaticism almost seems like a mental illness.).

Ah yes. We have a similar situation in one of the major petrol stations, a major exit one from Adelaide through to NT. There are say three counters but people stay back and form one queue to move to the next available one. Works well. Mostly. Except for those who ignore everyone standing there for their health and walk up and stand directly behind the person currently being served. Completely oblivious or rather, couldn't give a stuff anyway. Truckies use the station. One day she'll blow.

Guilty - but through genuine ignorance.

On one of my early trips to Canada, I shopped at a supermarket and went to the self-serves. Walked straight in as someone left. When I finished, I turned around and saw that there was a queue, but standing back in the aisle, so as not to block traffic coming sideways, so I didn't see it. Could have died and said sorry. But Canadians polite and just waved 'its OK'.

WCMO is the increasing frequency of protest marches in the CBD!!

Not the protest(s) themselves.

Just the lead chanter, who is so hysterical in their screaming into the megaphone that the words are indistinguishable. It sounds like bad yodelling.

On the weekend they are joined by a fellow lead chanter, also hysterical, with indistinguishable words.

But perhaps, in preparation for their future careers, at least they show flexibility and adaptability.

Suspect - but not entirely sure - they started out anti-covid, then anti-jab, then anti-mask, then anti-lockdown, then anti-ME war(s), then Palestinian state.

Same leads, which makes me wonder how long they are at university for?

Not seems. It is a mental illness. People walking around with coffee cups, and a cake too in a lot of cases.

There's something seriously wrong if you cannot function without stimulants.

That's two strikes for you and queues. Straight to hell for a third. 🤣

Like diet coke? (Still a caffeine-delivery system) 😉
There are some who don't function without the grape (or grain)-based depressants

Today it is Velocity surprise, surprise.
We always end our trips with a few days in Bangkok. We then fly SQ to SIN and overnight there as we don't like overnight flights so take the day flight to BNE the next day. On the last 2 occasions I have had problems booking the BKK-SIN flights. Always have booked as soon as they are on the website. So in October and now Feb 26 I have been unable to book the BKK-SIN sector.
Rang customer service for the October one and was told that the awards appear on day 330 but you can only pay on day 331. And it does say in their T&Cs that award payment is at 331 days so I accepted that but the agent booked it for me so no worries.

So for 26/2/26 I looked at it yesterday and as before payment failed, So tried just after 9,10,11 and 12 today and still wouldn't let me pay. First time that I have rung as VA Gold so the first time I got Manilla and got a woman that I found it hard to understand. All I wanted was at what time of the day you could pay and told that there isn't any set time but if the payment fails it means the seats are no longer available though I had been able to select the same seats 4 times over 3 hours so I called BS. so she asked what flights and magically the flight was still available so she booked it.

So thinking back I was sure I was told BS the first time so after I hung up I went back to the website and looked at the SIN-BNE sector for 27/2. The day time flight was available so went ahead and tried to book it even though 2 agents said it wouldn't be bookable today. It went through straight away.

Or tobacco based ones (or whatever is in the electronic ones).

Guess in some way the vices are getting less deadly in a way.

I don't get it either
Who cares if a barista can make pretty pictures on the froth.

I don't get the attraction of fermented stuff either - including Kombucha🤮

I wonder how much $$$ I've retained over the years.
There was much talk about the recent tax cut only being a cup of coffee a week. What didn't get mentioned is that skipping a coffee a week gives you $260 by the end of the year

So in reference to an earlier post in this thread about security staff wanting to check bags with dirty gloves… happened again today, and they specifically wanted to go into my toiletry bag.

I don’t have a problem with that except the gloves were almost black!

I asked for a supervisor who was sympathetic but explained they are required to use the cloth gloves because they are reinforced and will protect against sharp objects.

Any security staff you see with blue or disposable gloves aren’t allowed to open bags.

Supervisor had a clean pair of gloves :)

I suggested they have a box of really large disposable gloves they could put over the cloth ones if they need to go into personal items like a toothbrush. But apparently it’s on video surveillance and they’re not allowed.

I usually travel with a couple of toothbrushes. If they touched it during the search I'd make a point of taking it out and chucking it in the bin in front of them.

I’d agree… if I thought it would make the slightest impression on them. They don’t seem to understand. And if you don’t understand, you can’t care.

Plus I’d be worried about the dolphin/turtle/whale I’d be harming 🤣🤣
