Does anyone know if you earn VA status credits on a AC ticketed flight operated by UA? I can't seem to find any specific answer although VA does reference status credit earn with AC is on AC operated flights.

In the same scenario would Velocity Platinum have access to a Maple Leaf Lounge?

Thinking about some of my other flights, if I put my VA number down I think I will earn per the UA tables.

What would the flight number(s) be?

It's flight UA2423 and ticketed on 014.
It's a United flight number so you get United entitlements including lounge access aligned to your status level.

If it was issued as an Air Canada flight number (codeshare) you wouldn't get entitlements.

(I have a Qatar ticket with QR flights, but one flight is Air Canada with an AC flight number so I'll get the AC entitlements.)

Just looking at the ticket, it shows an AC flight number however is operated by UA (so one of their codeshares). The ticket also says Air Canada's baggage rules apply with a price for the 1st and 2nd baggage.

Checking the trip in AC it says: Your trip includes a flight with another airline. United Airlines: To view your booking on United Airlines please click on this link to select your seats and other optional services.

Checking the trip in AU it says bags are prepaid and the 1st bag is $0 per traveller.

VANCOUVER, International (YVR)Terminal: M
SAN FRANCISCO, San Francisco Intl (SFO)Terminal: 3

Name of the carrier whose baggage rules apply: AIR CANADA

That's the only bit which matters. UA doesn't codeshare on this flight (AC5696 - Air Canada AC 5696 Flight Tracker)

The rest of the spiel is bulk standard. It's because it's an interline ticket (which allows a single ticket), not a codeshare.
Interline is a commercial agreement between airlines that allows them to sell each other's services and tickets to passengers.

If this was the case I would have lounge access at YVR wouldn't I, however I will have to check in at a UA desk and I expect I will receive a UA boarding pass with UA flight number. The AC ticket also says their baggage applies and I would have to pay for it, however on UA's website it says baggage is prepaid.

Yes, you will get lounge access at YVR as you are platinum and you have an AC flight number. (We have already confirmed that.)

Air Canada Lounge access information when travelling on an Air Canada marketed and operated flight.
(You have a flight which is AC5696. This is Air Canada marketed and operated flight.)

With interline (as it's a single ticket) you normally get the allowance based on the most significant carrier. When you check your boarding online it will tell you this.

When you check-in you will be checked to your final destination on the ticket. If YVR is your starting point you would check-in with Air Canada.
