Access to Lounge flying Air Pacific

The # only relates to oneworld (non QF flights).

See post #24 of this very thread.

Now, why is it that QFF rules put me in mind of the proverbial 1,000 monkeys sitting at 1,000 typewriters? Thanks for the clarification serfty - if not for the headache inducing FT thread ;) - and dfcatch, it would appear that I'm half-right!

Just as a heads up in case it hasn't been mentioned.

Award flights on Air Pacific booked through the Qantas site book onto the FJ flight number instead of the QF flight number.

A Platinum friend of mine booked CBR-SYD-NAN and vv through Qantas.com found this out the hard way today when he turned up at the First lounge like he'd done many times before and was rejected.

Fortunately the itinerary was booked in Business so he at least had access to the Business lounge.

Oooh. That's a little bit nasty.

In Fiji:

On Air Pacific codeshare flight in Y class with a QF ticket:
Platinum: Lounge access
Gold: Lounge access
Qantas Club: No access

On Air Pacific codeshare flight in J class with a QF or FJ ticket:
Platinum: Lounge access
Gold: Lounge access
Qantas Club: Lounge access

On Air Pacific codeshare flight in Y class with a FJ ticket:
Platinum: Lounge access
Gold: Lounge access
Qantas Club: No access

*** It's this bit that does not seem quite fair to me if you get it in Fiji.

One thing that is odd though, if you have a look at the "Lounge Locations" on the Qantas Club part of QF's website, it has Nadi International (Tabua Lounge) listed there.

Its an associated lounge: [SUP]^^[/SUP]Lounges are not available in ports that are only serviced by Qantas codeshare flights.

Yeah, though being an associated lounge, can you get in there with a QP membership and a QF ticketed AP flight (with a QF flight number)

No, you cannot, its only available to J pax and WP SG.

Change to Lounge Access in Nadi

From 1 November 2007, the co-branded Qantas and Air Pacific Lounge at Nadi International Airport will be solely operated by Air Pacific. Access to the lounge will be available to Gold and Platinum Frequent Flyers. Qantas Club, Silver and Bronze Frequent Flyers travelling in Business can also enjoy lounge access before their flight.

Now that Air Pacific have two lounges at Nadi. Who can access each one? Naturally business class passengers would get access to the premium business lounge.

Do WPs and SGs only get access to the Tabua Club Lounge?

I believe its only the Tabua Club lounge you get access to.

The lounge in Nadi is hardly worth getting excited over - almost better off just hanging around the terminal!

Apologies for the thread resurrection...

I'm booked on the MEL-NAN QF codeshare on Saturday night in J (am also WP). The flight departs at 2330 from Melbourne. But as I understand it, both the international F and J lounges in MEL close at 1730.

I contacted Air Pacific about lounge access, and they just read me verbatim what's on their website that "you will have access to the Qantas lounge in Melbourne". Well no, I won't if it shuts at 1730 and the flight isn't until 2330.

Anybody else dealt with this before and know what the solution is (other than sitting around the public departures lounge for a few hours)?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Discussed this with some freinds on their recent trip (August). There were no alternatives for them, they sat around in the public area too - sorry...:(

If you are a J customer, it's the NZ lounge AFAIK. Status people don't have a lounge available.

Maybe send an email to [email protected] and ask.

In your email stress that you are aware the Qantas International Business lounge closes at 6pm on Sat and ask what provision has been made for Business class passengers.

You have the use of our Tabua Club Lounge in Nadi and shared lounges at selected airports whenever you are departing on an Air Pacific marketed and operated international flight (flight numbers starting with FJ), subject to space availability and lounge operating hours.

This is the response received from Air Pacific.

They apparently have no provisions as it is "subject to lounge operating hours". Not impressed...

How did you end up going DrA with your flight did you get access?

What is this about FJ having two lounges at NAN? I followed the signs to the Lounge area and I could only see the one FJ lounge.

I was on FJ code in Economy and just asked the lady if I could access as I had QFF Gold and was allowed in. Didn't ask for a card, not sure she even looked at the boarding pass - which just had a QFF number on it anyway, no status. It may have helped that it was around 1pm and there were only 2-3 other people in there.

There's another lounge "area" around to the left as you enter.

It's not immediately obvious, and when I went in there prior to FJ911 it was empty whereas the main lounge area was packed.
