Accor Fast Track to Silver/Gold/Platinum

Unfortunately, I've made almost all my Vietnam bookings, including executive lounge access, but the rooms with lounge access are not much more than standard rooms, so I'm not too fussed.

On the plus side, this prevents an "upgrade" from a standard room to an exec room.

A very happy update on my Platinum status issue.
Well done!

Interested to get your take on your Vietnam hotel stays @goldenhorn
especially those with lounge access.
Enjoy your trip.

This shows it's worth not giving up immediately when promised benefits are not delivered.
That's a fantastic outcome!

Do double check with the hotel by email perhaps a week prior to your arrival to check your Platinum status is recorded on your reservations correctly. Occasionally it's not but most often the system should pick up.

Does anyone know if the Qantas Points Club Plus accelerator to Silver stacks with the Accor Plus status nights? Ie, if I took the accelerator and got Silver ALL, would the 20 status nights from plus take me up to ALL Gold? I haven't been able to find anything in either T&Cs about it

From memory you don't get bonus stay nights from the PCP accelerator. Just your status goes to silver. You'll still need to get to 30 nights to get to gold.

Accor Plus usually posts as 20 nights on the anniversary day. Depends on if you already have 10 nights.

Edited to add: Wouldn’t cross the road for Accor Gold to be honest.

Have heard some good things from people in regards to Gold in Asia but not much positive feedback in regards to Australian properties and even worse when it comes to Europe
I think there's less focus on direct bookings and loyalty in asia/china for now outside of perhaps Singapore. Hence the benefits tend to be a bit better because there's fewer status members going through.

I think they treated my gold as diamond last year in one of the smaller cities in China last year, although Shanghai was more of a nothingburger besides better view rooms.

So you have decided on Vietnam @goldenhorn ?

I know weather is not ideal for July but we are looking to do this, are you happy to share your hotel choices?
Stayed the other week this time
and I found Saigon Novotel (+lounge) exceptionally good and well located
the airport ibis had the best croissants but thin walls between rooms + complimentary airport shuttle
(On the way out holiday inn at airport was better than ibis + complimentary airport shuttle & only place in Saigon that had a breeze!)
In Hà Nội Pullman (+lounge) needed grab for local transport and they can arrange airport shuttle $
So far (day 30 of ~150) Saigon Novotel is a stand out

As Gold, I usually get some sort of upgrade in Oz, Asia and Europe. Usually a welcome gift and drinks are mostly in app now anyway.

Can’t complain. Don’t expect more than I get. Hoping I might get to Plat this year. We’ll see if it’s noticeably different if and when that occurs!

Speaking of welcome gifts. Is there a way to note on one's ALL profile a preference? Eg, I have no interested in a $10 bottle of red wine. I'd much prefer a cold local beer or even a bowl of fresh fruit.

Unfortunately not, or at least not that I’ve found. I’m the same as you. Yet to open or take a bottle of the wine that Accor hotels have left for us. They are invariably left behind for the next ‘valued’ guest*

Cheers,
Matt.

* valued guests are guests whose worth after stay profit will exceed the $4.70 that the property will pay for the wine.

My profile has had white wine added sometime ago. Anytime wine is offered as a gift it’s a white now.
Individual hotels also keep note as the Sofitel Adelaide for instance knows I drink Pinot Grigio and will call me a day or 2 out from my stay to see if that is still my preference
