Accor Plus Membership Discussion

Thanks alot for sharing this. I regret I normally deleted my emails often can't seem to locate it.
So, bought Accor GCs from WW at 20x. Booked 2 stays, 1 of 2 nights and 1 of 1 nights next week. Will see how that plays out for me. Fingers crossed.

Having just organically retained ALL Platinum for 2025, I've just put in a request to cancel my A+ membership, which ends next month, and plan to rejoin late in December to shift my status extension benefit to the fullest. Let's see how difficult they try to make it for me to walk away, now...

Cheers,
Matt.

Why not just let it lapse?

Fair enough - I'm not opted into that, and it's never been clear to me who is and who isn't. But I know, I'm not.

Not only did mine auto renew this year, but did so with my new AMEX card details as my old card had expired in the interim, which I was lazily relying on as a roadblock. There's really no stopping the Accor Plus renewal freight train unless you specifically opt out, which I have since done.

I got the email about auto renewal . I phoned them about it as I didn’t recall signing up for it.
She could cancel the auto renewal. But I would get $20 off for renewing.
I was going to renew anyway so went ahead with it.

Yeah - didn’t want to take the chance
Quick and friendly response from A+ already has confirmed that auto-renewal is not on (and may not have been, as I signed up using ALL points). Account will end on 31 Aug, and I'll look at options to sign back up in mid-late Dec.

Cheers,
Matt.

Former Accor+Platinum member ( I let my subscription lapse back at the end of April) and have stayed 25 nights so far. I'm curious what would happen if I were to spend the 12,000 points to subscribe to Accor+ later this year (maybe December?). Would I have Accor+Platinum until December 2025? And if so, would I also get my suite night upgrades?

Depends… Are you ALL Platinum now, as in attained/retained in 2023, or are you ALL Gold at the moment?

I'm ALL Platinum now (had close to 100 nights last year between the Accor+ 20 night bonus and the stays). Certainly if I get the 20 night boost that will get me closer to retaining Platinum (45 nights out of 60) but I do worry that I won't be able to those extra 15 nights.

If you took up Accor+ in December this year, you would have Plat until Dec 2025.

I am planning to do exactly this next year (as I have attained Platinum this year). I have no idea if you will get another 2 SNUs next year based on the platinum extension.

I also have no idea if this policy is likely to change anytime with the Accor subscription changes afoot, perhaps it won't still work this way next year when I am set to renew? I am not taking it for granted that it will.

Can you say more about this, please?
Yes, so Accor have been shuffling the deck with their subscription offerings:

  • China hotels removed from Accor Plus and put into a dedicated "ALL PLUS" subscription package
  • IBIS Business becoming ALL PLUS IBIS and losing some benefits
  • New subscriptions such as the ALL Signature Brazillian sub which came in last year
  • The expectation that Accor Plus will get rolled into an ALL PLUS subscription (see on that page the mention of an incompatibility which suggests to me that Accor Plus is somewhat legacy and will eventually be slotted into an ALL PLUS sub)

Knowing Accor there is a significant chance in my eyes that what works today will work differently should they do what I am (despite being entirely uninformed) anticipating they will do with Accor Plus, which is to turn it into ALL Plus Asia Pacific (sans China..)

If you attained last year, which it seems you did, then you can sign up to A+ anytime before the end of 2024, and your current Platinum status will be carried over to the end of your A+ month in 2025. You won’t get any SNUs though, unless you make the nights or spend to retain organically in 2024.

Cheers,
Matt
