Accor Plus Membership Discussion

IME every Accor property I have stayed in the past 2 years has asked for photo ID on check in.
Same here, it’s SOP, however a guest on the booking can show ID and get keys. I had a quick chat this morning to an Accor regional manager (Premium, Midscale & Economy) and they said hotels are concerned about fraud and chargebacks which have been on the rise lately. Using cash, doing a prepaid reservation or perhaps even a physical gift card tends to minimise any hotel risk was a suggestion.

Thanks for that @markis10 can understand the issues with fraud/ chargebacks etc.

I had two suburban properties in the past year that didn't. I just gave them my last name and they gave me the keys. I must have a trustworthy looking face.

Well, tis the 31st and my 30th Dec 2nd month points haven't landed for signature. Got bigger things to focus on tonight but it just occurred to me that they hadn't landed...the chances of this being a monthly follow up exercise just increased a fair few percent.

A single night stay on 30/12 has tipped me over to Platinum for 2025, however I’m unable to find out whether the status benefits (specifically included breakfast) apply to bookings made while I was still Gold. Logic suggests they should but does anyone have a definitive answer?

In theory all good, but given it’s Accor I would be rebooking any flex bookings with your new number, often a drop in rates as well
The membership number should stay the same. It's just the status flag (digit 7) and last digit that normally change.

It does stay the same, but if the booking was made with a Gold number, I've seen properties see the 7th digit and only provide Gold benefits even when the I'd moved up to Plat before the stay.

Works against us when rising up the status ranks, works in our favour when dropping down...

My experience is that letting the hotel know is sufficient ( or if going down, not.lettimg them know)

I had a three night stay in Brisbane that was booked as silver but subsequently attained Platinum status.

Prices had gone through the roof, so couldn't rebook.

I contacted the hotel by email to advise of my Platinum and received a reply acknowledging this.

On check in they considered me to be Gold. I showed them the app with my accor+ Platinum status and was advised I would need to do that when going for breakfast.

This caused varying levels of confusion the next two mornings; the second morning I was even told to take the breakfast charge up with reception.

So I did later that day. The entire process took 20 minutes with the receptionist getting their manager to come out. It turns out there were no less than seven different membership numbers in my booking profile.

After discussion they removed all but my current number.

There was no issue getting complimentary breakfast the third morning.
