Accor Plus renewal - any deals?

Hi all, coming up to my renewal in a couple of weeks. The price point of 395$ is starting to irk me! I did some research and realized that the 'very expensive' Amex Platinum Charge Card comes with Accor Plus membership. Now, 1450$ for the Amex card is huge but if you take out the 450$ travel credit; the 395$ Accor membership you are sitting just over 600$. Chuck in the other hotel memberships and the unlimited lounge access it starts to become a possibility.

Just interested if any one uses their Amex Platinum to gain Accor Plus; have you gone through a similar price comparison? Any troubles transferring from a 'normal' paid up member to gaining the access as a Amex Platinum member?

You get a lot of extra stuff with the Platinum Charge, a $300 travel credit, lounge access to Velocity and loads of hotel/rental car loyalty upgrades. it's much more than just a credit card.

I had a call from I think Wollongong last week selling Accor Plus. They offered a best price of $359. I'm not sure I can get that much value out of the program.

I have been an Accor Plus member for about 8 years now.

Apart from the complimentary night (which I have used at the new Sofitel Darling Harbour the last 2 years and always got upgraded to a nice room), I have used it every year when they have their big discount sales.
For example this month we spent a week in Hobart on a nice 40% discounted rate. The year before I used it in Avignon France and got a great discount of 30% discount and an upgrade to their top floor. When you combine discounted accommodation with half price breakfasts and dinners we always get our "monies worth".

It seems to work for us.

I join the program via Fiji at around $200 for all the same benefits which I think is great value

Has anyone had any luck in recent times with purchasing Accor Plus having their status matched at the same time? TIA!

... also, the complimentary Platinum Reserve has a travel credit as well ($400?).

unsure best place to post..

being accor plus gets you 50% off dining.
However is breakfast also included in the 50% off? or lunches/dinners only?
it seems a bit hit & miss from my experience.
is there a definite answer?

Yess breakfast is also included - keep in mind it's 50% discount for 2 ppl, 33% for 3 ppl, 25% for 4 and so on

The 50% off dining/breakfast is good value in my opinion.
Breakfasts are alway a good fare that will last you for the day.
