Accor "Welcome" Gifts for Elites?

I'm only Accor Silver so have never received anything.
Having been an Accor Silver, Gold and now a Platinum I thought I'd provide some insight here. As a Silver, just like you, I never received anything from the hotel aside from the required drink voucher. As a Gold, however, I started getting welcome gifts at hotels, and now as a Platinum the quality of the welcome gifts have improved. For instance, as a Gold at some properties I might get a chocolate or granola bars whereas at the same property as a Platinum I would get a full bottle of wine, fruit/cheese platter, etc.

Stayed at the Movenpick in Melbourne last week and got a bottle of red wine and some rocky road chocolate.
I've found hotels in Australia frequently give a bottle wine, which is a bit disappointing for me as I don't drink. The chocolate is a nice addition to it though.
What status level are you? I've stayed there a number of times as gold and have only ever received the rocky road. No wine.

My recent experience (June-July 2023) as Accor Gold:

Mercure Munich Olympia Park: 1 free drink voucher (for booking 2 rooms) + small plate of fruit.
Mercure Salzburg City: 4 free drinks vouchers (for booking 2 rooms) + personalised plate of cookies and Mozart Salzburg chocolates
Ibis Prague Wenceslas Square: 4 free drinks vouchers (for booking 2 rooms) + small plate of fruit and macaroon.
Ibis Bratislava Centrum: 4 free drinks vouchers + free buffet breakfast for 4 (for booking 2 rooms). The breakfast is surprising good for Ibis.
Novotel Suites Vienna City Donau: 1 free drink voucher (for booking 2 rooms)

Ibis Bratislava Centrum had the best Elite recognition of all 5 hotels.

I have received free drinks from the Chadstone Hotel. I am a Silver too.
Yes but was that from a free drink voucher handed to you during check-in? If so, that's a published benefit of holding Accor elite status at Silver or above. If there was free water or something else in the room, then I would be curious what was provided in that instance.

It does seem to vary considerably.

As Gold, I have been happy with recent offerings of Koko Black chocolates, water x 2 and a bottle of wine at Sebel Moonee Ponds and Mercure Southbank - in both instances the bar was closed on a Sunday night hence the bottle as no welcome drink voucher, as only staying the one night.

Current stay at Peppers Blue on Blue Magnetic Island, hand written card, a decent cheese platter and bottle of wine.

If Mercure and Peppers can do that, surely Sofitel can?

A bottle of wine…..I appreciate its a gift but I don't drink and many others don't either. Surely some imagination — at least add an interesting non-alc drink (other than a tired bottle of water).

Yes, a good idea @ MARTINE.
Mr Flyfrequently doesn't drink ( usually just leaves it behind )

Just out of interest we are currently at the Pullman Jakarta Thamrin and last night in the EL we noticed a young lady sitting in the corner and observing staff and taking notes. Later on she went to get a drink from the bar and I noticed she had an Accor Plus shirt on and then about 20 minutes later I noticed her talking to the staff and the staff member pointed us out so she came over and introduced herself as being from Accor and stated she was checking out facilities and staff and as Diamond Plus members would we mind having a chat. We obliged and told her positives and negatives (of which one was the welcome gifts) and we exchanged feedback for a good 15 minutes. Afterwards she asked if she could have a photo with us and if we didn’t mind if our photo and comments could be used in any future promos and that she would hand our complaints and kudos on to Accor management. She also gave us a couple of coughtails as thanks so really happy with the night.
FWIW this was the welcome gift we received at the hotel, plus a welcome letter and 4x Heineken’s in the fridge too 😃

Just in terms of decent amenities

From January this year

Accor plus gold

Mantra east melbourne.

On a one night stay, was pretty happy with the haul. Cookies chocolate, wine. Nice hand written card too, considering most stay receive the pro forms printed ones.

I have personally found mantra’s have given generally more generous amenities.

Ibis - mixed

Mecure - minimal

Novotel - mixed

Mgallery and other boutiques - mixed

Pullmans - generally fruit an water, consistent.

Sofitel - fruit or chocolate and water

I’ve figured it’s much to do with individual management than Brand.

Pullman Sydney Olympic Park, Accor Plus and Accor Platinum. No welcome gift, no acknowledgement. Battle to use Accor Plus due to a concert with no notice when booking. .

I've been an Accor ALL Platinum for a number of years, and can confirm that the recognition/upgrades/gifts etc can very considerably, and unexpectedly. I'm not greatly fussed by a couple of chocolates or pieces of fruit, and the welcoming drink can range from something very minimal to a choice of anything I'd like from the bar.

I've got a freebie Accor name tag on my backpack, which was spotted by a passing hotel executive in Canberra, then followed by a very speedy queue jump and check-in process. I've had amazing room upgrades in Singapore, the UK and Europe, but also nothing at many Australian locations. Sadly, I've found it's some of the Australian country locations that are the most disappointing.
Cooinda lodge as a gold (I believe it is considered an ibis styles), it was like they’d raided the gift shop. Plate of deserts, cut fruit, cereal bars, wine in fridge, local olive oil and also a guide book

I also stayed at Pullman Sydney Olympic Park on Sat night. Also no welcome gift.
Was there anything in the room waiting for you? At some Accor properties they don’t hand you a welcome gift at check in but rather it’s put in your room. The only time I’m handed a welcome gift on check-in is when I’m staying at an ibis or ibis budget.

No nothing left in the room for me.

Anything in the fridge? The reason I ask is sometimes they'll have a plate of fresh fruit which they store in the fridge so it doesn't get gross. This happened to me when I stayed at the Mercure Sydney Macquarie Park (although they did have beers and whole fruit laying on the table waiting for my immediate consumption!)

With that being said, that is very disappointing if true. Welcome gifts are a published benefit of being an Accor elite and it's something you should expect anywhere in the world. Heck, even when I stayed at the Novotel Montreal Airport with reception that were clueless on what Accor status was all about, I was still greeted with a pair of Novotel socks, water bottle, chips and water when I got to the room. Heck, if we're talking about Sydney Olympic Park, just a few weeks ago I stayed at the ibis Budget Sydney Olympic Park and was given a 2 bottles of sparkling water and a box of cakes at check-in as an Accor+Platinum. And that was on a $90/night red hot room.

Given the reviews, I think I'll have to stay clear of this one. Then again, it's unusual for this Kangaroo to be staying at hotels much more than $100/night.

Bacon and eggs socks at Ibis Styles Melbourne Airport, a pleasant surprise.
