I have tried searching a/c card, a/c american express card, and nothing has come up but I remember reading about it here multiple times.

I'm trying to set up my A/C card, spoke to Live Chat, said I can do it online which I thought you couldn't. I proceeded to add an additonal card holder the normal way as advised, and one of the terms was 'must not be in your name'. Spoke to Live Chat again, said I had to call. I did that, and they said they have to physically send (can't email) and then I can upload it via the online account.

Was there a way to expedite this process, or is that the only way an A/C card can be added?

Solution
Has any one had any success getting the extra card?

I tried just before xmas and they rejected it. And I am wary about trying too many times.
I tried a few months back with no success, submitted the form twice both times they called & said they don’t offer the card anymore.
Also that the codes on the pdf form are not recognised anymore 🤷🏼‍♂️
Does this mean that you can't pay the bill separately?

If your A/C card is set up under a separate login then can you pay the bill separately from the original card?

I don't believe so. Payment needs to go to the primary card. However, nothing preventing you paying it in two distinct payments. Not sure why you'd want to though?

Hmmm okay. I want to completely separate my business transactions from personal ones (including the payment of the bill). So that biz card gets paid off using the biz bank, and personal card gets paid off from personal bank. Would make it way easier to reconcile during bookkeeping.

I thought adding an A/C card would be a good way to do this since you could have the login separated in order to feed just one card into xero. But if the statement combines then perhaps it's not a good idea.

I might just stick to the Platinum Reserve for personal spending. The reason I wanted 2 x Platinum Charge cards in the first place is because the offers are more suited to personal spending than business spending. And I find myself putting personal spend on the card meant to be used for business only in order to get the offers (eg $400 woolies cash back) and then having to reimburse that on the books lol.

So that biz card gets paid off using the biz bank, and personal card gets paid off from personal bank.

Perhaps I'm missing something but I don't see why you couldn't still do this. Say you have a statement totalling $10k from $2k spend on personal card (primary card) and $8k on business card (supplementary)

Login to personal bank account, BPAY $2k to Amex biller code + primary card number.
Login to biz bank account, BPAY $8k to Amex biller code + primary card number.

Shouldn't make any difference to your reconciliation whether you are BPAYing the primary card or supplementary card number.

How would I know how much to BPAY from each account? Would the totals spent on each card be easily visible (or does it require manually adding up)?

I've never had a supplementary card or A/C card before but if it's as easy as you're saying then I'd be fine with that as a solution.

Your statement at the end of the month gives a total spend for each supp/A/C card.

When you pay an AMEX account by BPAY, the reference number is the card number the payment goes to. Put in a supplementary card number instead and the payment comes through under that card, but credits to the main account as 'bill paid', as applicable.
Still, I always test it with a small payment first (eg $2) to make sure I have the card details right and it all goes through, before paying larger amounts.

Thanks for the help guys!

Does this second A/C card require a credit check?

If not... then does the card show up on your credit report at all?

My Platinum shows on mine with a balance of -$1 (clearscore app which uses Experian) so I'm just curious if having an A/C would duplicate it on the report.

Tried again and still got Manila. They read from a script. Apparently "there was an update in march to the app that makes it easier to manage transactions" so there's "no longer a need to have an A/C card or supplementary in the main card holders name anymore" and applications are no longer possible.

That seems like a lame excuse. Has anyone reading this successfully requested one of these cards in the past 6 months?

Maybe email the concierge team and just ask for the form?

Unsurprising. For almost a decade I’ve held 9 supplementary cards (per AX card type) in my name to leverage all of the generous Amex “Offers” and Shop small promotions etc. This tactic has been extremely lucrative and has saved me thousands of dollars over that time. But they clamped down on this (for me personally) about a year ago, so I’m now left with just the one card.

Last time I checked you could manually add supplementary cards online within account features. Have you tried that?

You meant they closed your accounts and left you with only one now??

Yeah I know it's a bit of a loophole. I didn't really want the A/C card to get extra offers though, mostly to better separate personal and business spending without having to pay for another annual fee.

I already submitted a form that I found on another thread. Will see what happens with that. If it doesn't go through I'll try harder to contact concierge or submit a supplementary application online.

Glad they let you keep your main account after all that, it would of sucked to get banned!

It's been 4 days since I submitted the form to request an A/C card and I just noticed this in my account while switching views of my cards.

Looks like there is now an additional card member in my name. So that looks promising.

So far I haven't received any notification of this though and can't click into the additional card to view it either.

Edit: On further investigation it shows "TravellingSquid A/C" in my Statements page > Activity by card member breakdown. With a separate card number at the end 😎 In that case I'm pretty sure I should be getting a new card in the mail soon!

It doesn't - however you can create a separate login for the a/c card which can only view those transactions.
I use the separate login for two separate purposes.
1/ Gives my admin person access to transactions just on my a/c card.
2/ Allows me to feed the business card only in to Xero

Is there any way to create the separate login online or is a call to support needed? Also do all points earned still funnel back to the main ascent premium account or does this second login mean they get separated?
