Additional 30,000 bonus Velocity points with a new credit card (apply by 17/12/23)

Velocity Frequent Flyer is giving an additional 30,000 bonus points if you apply for a new co-branded Velocity points-earning credit card with an annual fee between 6 November and 17 December 2023.

That's in addition to the regular sign-up bonus. To qualify for the additional bonus points, you'd also need to meet the minimum spend criteria for the sign-up bonus.

To be eligible to receive 30,000 bonus Velocity Points, you must (a) be a Velocity Frequent Flyer member, (b) successfully apply for any credit card featured on the Velocity Points earning credit card page with an annual card fee (the American Express Velocity Escape Card is not eligible for this promotion), between 12:01am (AEST) 6 November 2023 and 11:59pm (AEST) 17 December 2023, and (c) meet the minimum spend criteria for the eligible offer associated with the individual card if the application is successful. Within 30 days of receiving the eligible offer associated with the individual card provided by the issuer of the card (Issuer), 30,000 bonus Points will be allocated to your Velocity account in accordance with, and subject to the Velocity membership Terms and Conditions. The 30,000 bonus Velocity Points is offered by Velocity Frequent Flyer and is separate to bonus Points or other eligible offers from the Issuers. The T&Cs just say "Offer is not available to existing Virgin Money Credit Card holders (including upgrades)."

So, I don't think there's a 12-18 month waiting period?

Any card on that page except the Amex Velocity Escape card should be eligible.

As this would appear as a "Partner NAB" card, I'm hoping that it won't matter if you have any current or very recently-(opened-then-)closed "Partner NAB" cards open(ed)?

I've applied for and received one of the Amex cards, if I apply for one of the Westpac cards will I receive a 2nd lot of 30k bonus points? I can't see anything in the T&C, if it's 1 bonus per member?

Normally annual fees are charged around the last day of the first statement month.

Hi, I just moved to Australia and I am looking for a new card as I will make some purchases in the next couple of months.

- Amex Platinum does not offer a good sign up bonus and I hold also EU AMEX with my partner. So I am looking at the Virgin Card options ( feel free to suggest if there is anything better)

1) Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer Card - 80.000 sign up bonus + 30.0000 and 1 Velocity Point per 1 $
2) Westpac Altitude Black Credit Card with Velocity Points - 120.000 bonus + 30.000 extra and 0,75 per 1$

What would you recommend? As the perks are not that great it will be more a card for getting the points and quitting.

Sounds like you'll be going thru both in time so just which over first is your only choice.

Another matter, Mrs Moo and myself recently got new CC each with obvious signup bonus in our churn hobby.

Opted for given credit limit and both recieved nearly 40k each. This nearly double our usual credit limit. My theory is are CC mobs giving higher credit limits so to basically disable getting approved for other cards as total credits limit affects applications.

Am I pessimistic or is it a sneaky tactic?

I am intrigued to know as well. Normally I applied for min on the card. Had feeling the more credit with the card the harder to apply for other as banks consider "serviceability" as well, not just income.

I will just contact CC issuer and get it lowered, all about giving myself best chance of new card every so often.

Just changing the credit limit takes time to hit the credit reporting agencies so will insist on an email letter info stating the credit limit had been lowered if need be.

Sorry @Sunnyj, it never came to fruition as Westpac denied my application (very confused as to why, but that's another story) and thus I only went with Virgin.
