Just browsing through the VA website and I think i've noticed something that I haven't before, the advertising.

Is this new?

Newish I think, they seem to have been adding more cross promotional things.

For some reason, going to the VA homepage is giving me an attempt to also open the Velocity homepage in a separate window.

Just find it odd that i'm getting advertising for accor hotels, when surely they could link their own hotel page. Also this is what Tiger do on their home page, JQ don't even do it.

I'm getting ACcor as well. Maybe they have done some deal with Accor....

Now the VA homepage is just flicking me across to Velocity. Maybe they don't want me to buy a ticket.....

Had the exact same thing happen to me yesterday afternoon, a bookmarked Firefox VA page was auto directed to Velocity login, which I did and then tried to book a flight - where it promptly kicked me out to the Virgin Australia booking site which was then redirected to the Velocity web site login prompt again. I had to refresh and enter the VA web site from a new Google search where the VA site and advertising appeared to work OK.

This morning the VA site appears as it did last week - looks absolutely terrible but is functional.

Work experience kid strikes again.... , hopefully they have the easter weekend off so that people can actually book some flights on the VA web site.

They are advertising in the Voyeur mag as well from memory. The weird thing is that they aren't a VFF partner. Seems entirely back to front to me?

The clicks on the link must mean more revenue than actual commission from sales of hotels on their own website/portal.

Some people take every opportunity to bag VA :!:

Some people just state facts as well and don't defend a company due to vested interests. Fact is that having advertisements flashing up on an airlines site is a low cost carrier mentality

Actually, you've only stated your opinion. It screams LCC to you. That is your opinion not a fact!

That's not fact my friend, that's opinion! Big difference!

Happy that they use their website for advertisements, as long as they don't ground their entire fleet as part of an industrial dispute.

I'm glad that they have added ads to the website, because clearly there is nothing else to worry about on the site, I mean it is performing flawlessly right?

It's a bit of a joke really.

To be fair, the two things are completely unrelated technologically. Might just be a way of having something on the page that works?

BA's website have plenty of ads and cross promotion.
I don't think of VA as LCC even with the ads....even QF do it at times too!
