Advance Seat Selection on Virgin - now available!!

Let me confirm that, as of this morning, we have implemented Advance Seat Selection across all Virgin Australia, Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue flights.

This is offered to our Velocity Platinum, Gold and Silver members, as well as those who have booked Business class and Premium Economy seats, or a Flexi fare ticket.

Seat Selection is available from 14 days prior to departure to Check in. This can be done via the 'Manage Bookings' section of the website.

Velocity tier members should fill out the 'seat preference' at their profile (on the Velocity website), as this will aid us in pre-selecting your seat (which you can change once you are inside the 14 day window).

There is also the function for our Velocity Platinum, Gold and Silver members as well as Flexi fares, to purchase Extra legroom (formally Blue Zone).

More details at the website here

Great to see a favourable reaction from AFF!

Re: Advance Seat Selection on Virgin - now available??

Better than T-24 though!

All you need to do is set a reminder for 2 weeks before the flight.

In fact, I like the limited timeframe better I think, as most of my flights are booked closer to the time, so this gives me more of a chance to get a decent seat! I'm being selfish here of course :)

And so you should be - we all need to make decisions on what is right for us not other people :)

Personally I am now very used to the process of jumping on line to select seats as soon as I get my confirmation from my PA (and I am going to get them to do it in future) so if they update this to time of booking it will be a plus for me.

And not only that, but based on the seat map I've got either a BSI or refitted aircraft on the way up to Sydney too...

I wonder if my good news day is all because of that email from "Microsoft" this morning saying I'd won $400,000...:?:
Unfortunately, this is how all the premium cabins look, even for existing cabins with 3 rows of premium economy, they will show up 2 rows. Even if E190's have 3 rows of Premium economy, they only come up with 2.

It's not based on the number of rows.

Premium Cabins with on PE show a middle seat with "N/A" on it, and only shows a bulkhead on the right hand side of the cabin.

Premium Cabins with J show no middle seat, and it also shows the bulkhead on the left hand side.

OK, 1D or 2D on BSI? ;)

Yeah good question. I've sat in 1D twice on a BSI, and once on a refitted 738. I'm thinking I might change my selection to 2D and see what it's like.

Row 1 has pros and cons - I like no-one reclining into me, but I'm 6'2" so find the legroom slightly restricted with the bulkhead - although certainly no worse than a QF 738. For an hour to Sydney it's fine, but on a longer flight can be annoying.

Will try to see what row 2 is like tomorrow!

The only gripe i have about it is that it is not available to saver fare passenger's unlike Jetstar and Qantas that do. If virgin were to add a small fee like JQ for saver passengers to choose there seat, id be willing to pay. But i hear some are saying even with saver you can choose your seat, even though in the T&C's it dosent.

Hi Jack,

from the link the VA rep sent "Inclusive for Platinum, Gold & Silver Velocity Frequent Flyers regardless of fare purchased"

Cheers

If you have status then fare type does not matter.

Are those people Silver or above though?

Is anyone who is not silver or above able to check?

You'd need to find someone that had no status, and booked on a saver fare to know.

Thanks guy's!

But just a message to virgin:

Make it available to saver passenger's that don't have a status with a small fee like jetstar.

Cheers

Thumbs up from me! 3C+B auto-allocated for last minute trip friday on full flexi.

Status match paying off - now to assess the overall experience and see if Virgin will be getting my business away from QF.

Have a couple more upcoming so now to wait for T-14d for those and see how I go seating wise.
