Not sure why but my local always has Pol Roger Vintage marked as delivery only, no local pickup. Is it similar to the NV? I've tasted most of the First Choice champagne range and found Pol Roger to be in the same bucket as Bollinger and Billecart-Salmon, I haven't enjoyed these. I'm not sure how to describe these, but it might be fruityness? Either way I've been left really disappointed.

Louis Roederer, Tattinger, Veuve, Moet, Canard Duchene, Charles de Cazanove, Mumm and Piper Heidsieck I've enjoyed, I like yeast but when I had the Bollinger I disliked it so much I almost stopped drinking it, only finishing it as I didn't want the bottle to go to waste :/

Dom Perignon still marked as a catalogue special at its regular price, just to rub it in...

Showing as $104.50 for me unfortunately

My understanding is Pol Roger is an "old style" champagne, so it is sweeter than many of the other labels mentioned.

First Choice sale on the pricier stuff today, 10% CashRewards, 2000 Flybuys for $50 spend and Dom Perignon on catalogue special is actually a special price this time of $250, not it's regular $300. $204.77 is possible for Dom and $161.82 for Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque.

Problem is I called my local and Dom is the 2010 vintage...

How are you calculating that?
$250 RRP is $227.27 + $22.73 GST
10% cashback on the ex-GST amount of $227.27 is $22.73 (same as GST)
So you are getting it for the ex-GST amount.

2000 Flybuys is $10 off a Coles shop.

I must be missing something..

I miss the days when Dan Murphys/CR offered 30% cashback uncapped, and could use on champagne as well...some of the biggest $ savings I've ever made.

Probably why they don't offer such good deals anymore :P

Yeah makes it hard to get something more special at a less painful price. Good deals still around on bottles up to ~$120 when you combine a good CB/SB with a store discount day, can sometimes get around 30% cashback with a 20% store discount. Savings margin suffers tho if you're after something like Krug/Dom with those caps.

With that said, 15% right now at Dan's with the $50 cap still has you under the cap if you get Krug with the online discount. I make lots of small purchases to maximise cashback, find myself at First Choice fairly often on the way home from work. Staff are starting to recognise me, must think I'm an alcoholic! But in my defence I'm buying one bottle at a time not a case so one normal visit takes me six going by the average champagne case.

They definitely now make you work for it! Gone are the glory days when I was able to buy a Krug Clos d'Ambonnay that was listed for $4000 with 30% CR + 5% Wish = $2660. Best absolute saving ever!

1998. Also nabbed a 2000 Clos du Mesnil in the same same sale. Both too early to drink imo.
Amongst my aged Champagne treasures, I have a 1979 Clos du Mesnil - yes, the first vintage!

Having made the mistake of checking the current pricing, I have not been able to bring myself to pop the cork.:)

Don't get yourself into the same position.
(Fortunately, I have not the vaguest idea what I paid for the 1979.:))
