I have gone with Nord. Thanks for your input.
To avoid this thread going off topic, can I suggest starting a new thread. I'm sure he VPN brains trust would love to help.Tried to implement Nord today. Could not connect, had 3 lots of online chat and still no success-can't seem to track what is causing the problem
HI computing wizards out there. I am considering using a VPN for use at home as well as during my travels with an iPad. Any advice is welcomed. I have done a little research but would appreciate any further input. Thanks in advance
There are better to way than VPN, if you want to cover whole house and all devices.
Use smartdnsproxy service and i you can watch US or UK based Netflix services using Aus acct log in. Make sure to have static routing activated in your main router since some of the services use Google DNS as their dna.
I run a global network R&D for US company and we advise all our domestic users to use this service.
Google? How do I find out more aboout this Smartdnsproxy?
Lots of info wanted more quality then quantity, from somebody who has been there before and is knowledgable.Google?

Yes Qantas free wifi in the lounge very handy then. Some sites are completely blocked and VPN gets me around them. However I have noticed myself using 4G more and more when I can as the download limits get higher on the mobile phone.I've had excellent ongoing results with Tunnel Bear and Express VPN in China. All my "stuff" lives in the Google world so obviously, a good VPN is vital while travelling CN. Also for FB MSGR to call the family. I pack two VPN for CN in case there are any issues with one during my trip.
My daily-driver VPN is Tunnel Bear and I use it when travelling and want to watch Foxtel live sports on my iPad - VPN back to Australia and watch my team lose just like I'm sitting at home (Carlton). VPN also handy when travelling in countries where Netflix / Spotify is not yet available - same thing, VPN back to AU and job done.
Don't tend to use much at home in Aust but handy to have to get around any geoblocked articles and sites I want to read/access.

Just add.com to smartdnsproxy and you can run it for free few weeks then decide. Unlike VPN , this one shows you are in aus for all local services and UK and US services as those local services. Its extremely effective and all you do is put the DNS(which provided by them) in your each device and main router.

Just looking at it now.
However unfortunately with the 2 week free trial it specifically does not include Netflix US ( a message comes up to upgrade). This is a bugga as that is one aspect I wanted to test.
I was able to access BBC1 fine though.
Following the guide on how to set it up was easy.
