AFF Flounge Xmas Run Dec 3

I have recently flown to Bkk on JQ29 from Mel. Did the JQ29 OLCI at home in Adl and tried to get the JQ29 BP issued at both Adl and Mel QPs. No go. Was told they were told they could no longer issue any JQ BPs.

Last time we tried this we got the JQ35 boarding passes at the JQ customer service desk in BNE (It says on the faux-BP "please present this at the customer service desk to receive your boarding pass").

That is what I had to do on my recent JQ29 flight. Only the JQ service desk at Mel international would issue the JQ29 BP. The JQ service desk at Adl would not issue the JQ29 BP claiming they could not issue international BPs. That also happened when I tried to get the JQ35 BP issued at Adl.

When I did the last FLounge run, I tried to get the JQ35 BP issued at the QP Syd domestic lounge and at the JQ Syd domestic service desk. No deal. Neither would do it despite knowing JQ international checking in was down due to the power issue at Syd T1.

I did not however try using the QF F check-in at Syd T1.

There was that troublemaker that tried to board with that BP as well....

Wot, this one:

Thought it matched the branding on the IFE quite nicely despite the orange elsewhere

Say to JQ "I have already checked in online but I just to reprint my boarding pass". I think that way you will circumvent their 'issues' of instigating the checkin so they don't have to take responsibility for the deed.

Now I am convinced we are pushing real hard for revision to Platinum access rules to the First Lounge come 1 February 2012....

I would have thought the quarterly runs would have hardly impacted the numbers when compared to normal JQ35 customers using the lounge, apparently it numbers 20 every Saturday according to the lounge dragons, yet the lounge has never been crowded? Not that some would seem to be fussed ;) :

And I will stick to my usual response.

A lounge is just a lounge. The novelty does wear off after a while.

You don't think there is a difference between a casual JQ customer walking in to the First Lounge as opposed to 20-30 AFFers making themselves fairly obvious?

And yes my usual response still stands but I would not want to lose First lounge access when I am only flying economy.

Considering we are yet to have a F lounge run that gets 20 people, no, let alone one that seems to be happening every week ;). Apparently quite a few WPs enjoy the option of a cheap JQ35 run home after an interstate/overseas trip, given the flight is a positioning run for the jet its no doubt working nicely for QF as a whole.

If you take the overseas taxes and departure taxes out of a $450 Y OW fare to BKK, divide it by hours flown to get an approximate cost basis, then look at a JQ35 ticket, QF is getting more out of a $50 JQ ticket yet both allow F lounge access, go figure ;).

Maybe QF are reading this thread. JQ35 on the 3rd is now $109. I was going to book it at $59, but alas, not doable:(

TT do have a $69.95 fare available, so would be possible to do a price match at least...

They have only just loaded those fares, whats the bet TT drop them?

I am in, Jetstar starter  fare booked at AUD69. Which flight are people taking back to SYD? Am looking at a DJ around 7PM which should give enough time for The Lounge. Can guest 1 into Flounge and 3 in The Lounge

I'd be up for another run, the last one was great fun! Would need a guest spot though.

Hopefully TT will drop their prices. I feel a crazy sale coming on as they haven't had one since they started flying again.
