Sounds like a great do, so when and where is the next one? I promise I will turn up at one of these one day. And I can be the designated driver since I don't drink. :D

Hvr,

You are more than welcome (as the designated driver or otherwise) to any or all of the functions.

Have you thought about Cairns in May :?:

Very nice trip report. Glad to see that everyone had a great time and you were all adequately hydrated during the trip.

Anat0l, I do not think you will be seeing peanut butter in a Qantas Lounge anytime soon considering the lengths Qantas went through recently removing peanuts, and traces of peanuts, from all their flights.

No great drama but the trip report was a little difficult to read due to the page width.

Ahhh...that makes sense. Although I'm sure the museli and Bircher museli has traces of nuts in it. And probably the other cereals too. Goodness save the breads......

And I can pinpoint so many WHY refreshments with nuts......including - *fanfare trumpets* - bags of peanuts!

No great drama but the trip report was a little difficult to read due to the page width.

Can't understand this. In my browser I can view the TR which wraps to my screen without the browser proffering the horizontal scroll bar.

Some random testing reveals that if the TR is displayed in a non-maximised window, a horizontal scrollbar will be used and hence the TR will be "wide". Maximising the said window does not help things.

If the TR is read in an already-maximised window then no horizontal scroll bar is used.

If the display resolution is less than 1024x768, that might not help things either.

So I wonder what is the best way to display pictures in a TR? I guess QF009 has the easiest method, which is one photo per line (i.e. insert photo, then a carriage return, repeat as needed...)

A lot of PC software is very quirky when not used exactly as the developer intended. I hardly ever use a full size IE7 screen, I feel comfortable with a browser window about half the size of the screen, although my resolution is 1024x768....

1400x1050 on my notebook and i hate full size windows.
Also annoys me to see so many 1024x768 designed pages / apps and yet a lot of screens are a bit smaller in the current netbooks etc. (1024x600 for example)

These are extinct! Now you get a bag of pretzels/rice snacks in WHY.

J has bags of nuts including almonds, cashews etc ... but no peanuts!

Aaah....I've misinterpreted slightly. I thought they were trying to get rid of all traces of nuts. I didn't know that peanuts had something in them that other nuts don't (hence why people with such allergies may be able to eat them).

Now that I think about it, I have not seen peanuts on QF for yonks. I had a plate of warmed almonds and cashews on QF44; returning from OzFest #5 on SYD-BNE they gave us a bag of sultanas and a bag of mixed almonds/cashews (no peanuts again).

I really did want to say the bolded statement above, but I was too lazy to put the pun shield up. :p

You can be allergic to peanuts (which are really legumes) and not to tree nuts (most other nuts). Conversely, you can be allergic to tree nuts but not peanuts.

Samuels Gorge was our next stop, which had been recommended to us previously as having a most picturesque view and some great wines (apart from Coriole). We sat down in the courtyard of the very traditional looking cellar (complete with an outhouse), which looked out to magnificent rolling views of the hills.

I bought a bottle of their Tempranillo and opened it with the other half a few days ago. It was absolutely divine and we both loved every drop of it! Pity we didn't buy more of it. We thought that we'd be able to buy more at our local wine shops if we really liked it, but have since discovered that the Samuel's Gorge Tempranillo is incredibly difficult to find. They make v little of it apparently, and it's even sold out at the cellar door.

I much prefer almonds and cashews ! but they are much more expensive than peanuts.

Wine... well i know how it is Keith, one of my favorite Shiraz's is only made in such limited quantity you more or less need to pre-order each year, about 1000 bottles a year.

I'm v pleased it stacks up after the event Keith. I've had occasions where I've tasted, liked and bought wine at the winery, only to open a bottle a month later, and think, yeccchh!, whatever posssessed me to buy this muck!!

I really liked the Tempranillo and Grenache at Samuel's Gorge, but liked the Shiraz so much more (sensational) that I just bought a case of that and nothing else from SG (and will leave it a little while before getting into it). But they're on the wishlist!

Mr QF009 and I are flying over to ADL tomorrow and roadtripping back. :D We're driving via several wine regions. We're defo dropping by Samuel's Gorge to pick up more of their yum wine. We're then driving on to Limestone Coast, and overnighting in Mt Gambier/Penola and Geelong.

We've also got a $99 national wine pass thingy that allows us to pick up 6 bottles of wine for free, and a year's supply of wine tours. (cellardoorpass.com.au)

Thank goodness I'm not the designated driver, only on my Ls anyway so I've got an excuse. :D:shock:

PS: time to start planning for AFF Gather #3 soon? ;)

Not a terribly bad idea... but don't know whether I'll be able to make it over at this stage.

Keep it out of November, and I may be OK.

Good idea. Just need a place and time :)

I imagine you'll all chime in with SYD or BNE .. but I'm sick to death of both those places, so count me out! :D

There was always the Red Bull Air-race weekend in Perth, not that I'd recommend Perth though......!

QF009 - are you staying at Geelong Sheraton 4 Points?

Try Sailor's Rest (it's virtually across the road) for dinner. The hotel is ok, but not fantastic. They do awesome buffet breakfast though (almost worth going even if you arent staying there!).
