I imagine you'll all chime in with SYD or BNE .. but I'm sick to death of both those places, so count me out! :D

There was always the Red Bull Air-race weekend in Perth, not that I'd recommend Perth though......!

Here I was thinking Hunter Valley :) Maybe QF009 will need to run a poll!

Well, in AFF style it should be somewhere creative, but also somewhere where there's competition to keep prices down.

Some possibilities?

- TSV
- MCY (for those that refuse anything but QF there's alwasy BNE and drive)
- ASP (TT fly there now )
- NTL (Hunter)
- Port Macquarie
- MEL (previous opinions noted)
- OOL (again, BNE and drive for non-QF refusers)

QF009 - are you staying at Geelong Sheraton 4 Points?

Try Sailor's Rest (it's virtually across the road) for dinner. The hotel is ok, but not fantastic. They do awesome buffet breakfast though (almost worth going even if you arent staying there!).

Indeed I am, thanks for the recommendation. :)

As for AFF#3, I have a thesis to write this year so I'm handballing it over to someone else. Sorry! :(

PS: Sydney is good... (from a "base of lots of AFFers" perspective)

Just re-ready my post QF009 - the hotel is fine without being special. The hotel RESTAURANT is average. But does a great breakfast (admittedly a year ago now).

Another option for dinner would be one of the wineries on the road in from Colac called Pettavel - it's absoultely fantastic (you're likely but not definite to need reservations).

Well, it's a 4Pts so I'm not expecting much. It is however one easy night credit towards SPT PLT requal. :)

Cheers for the tips. :D

Tada...

We visited:

McLaren Vale (SA):
Minko Wines
Fox Creek
Samuel's Gorge (who unfortunately has sold out their 2007 Tempranillo and hasn't released the 2008, we were directed to Chapel Hill next door; rest assured that we'd be getting our hands on the 2008 Tempranillo as soon as it's released after Easter)
Chapel Hill
Hoffman Wines
Leconfield

Coonawarra (SA):
Koonara Wines
Wynns
DiGiorgio Family Wines
Hollick Wines
Yalumba

Henty (VIC):
Bochara Wine Co - we saw this random little one on the highway and decided to pop in for the heck of it - it makes a mean Sauv Blanc!

Geelong/Bellarine (VIC)
Bellarine Estate
Scotchman's Hill
Pettavel
Brown Magpie Wines
Oakdene Wines

Time to invest in a new wine rack... but I always lose them in the midst of moving. :-|:D

We stocked up on a grand total of 30 bottles over the weekend, so that renders a Dan Murphy's visit unnecessary for the next 4 weeks. :)
