It must be my lucky day today.

I had a flexible two day booking for the Parmelia Hilton Perth for AFF10 which I had booked on the Hilton Website for $152pn. A couple of days ago I found out that stays booked via the Hilton App get triple HH points (rather than double) under the current offer. Today I checked prices and $152pn for a flexible booking was available again so I cancelled my current stay and re-booked using the app.

Half an hour later I received an email from Amex Connect containing this offer:

I've never seen such a generous Amex Connect offer for Hilton before.

I also got a triple avios offer for stays at Hilton.

So, two nights at Parmelia Hilton Perth with HH Diamond benefits will cost a total of $154 and earn around 4500 HH points and 300 Avios.

I'm happy :D

Hi Everyone, some important AFF10 updates to make a note of...

Our Welcome Drinks Venue has now been confirmed

"We have reserved The Reserve" - samh004

Our Welcome Reception Drinks will be held at The Reserve (area off Adelphi Grill Restaurant) at Parmelia Hilton Perth. There will a Bar and a selection of light refreshments available. The space will be exclusively ours until 8pm. There is no charge for this event, simply pay your own way for your drinks on the evening. The Wiki at the top of the page has been updated with this information.

Final Boarding Call for the Rottnest Island tour & Sunday Bus tour

The tour operator for the Rottnest Island and coach company for the Sunday Bus tour have asked for final numbers for both tours, as such these events will be closed for sale very shortly. If you are planning on attending either tour and have not yet paid for your tickets I encourage you to do so ASAP. Once the final manifests are sent to tour operators any additional guests will be at the discretion of each company.

I have paid for 'full day' Sunday bus tour but now find myself having to bail from this. I could probably make the first stop (Freo Gaol) but would not be able to participate any longer than that. Is a refund available for this if I bail completely? Thanks.

I have now closed the Rottnest Island Tour and the Sunday Bus Tour for sale online as payments have been transferred to the operator and coach company. If you still wish to attend please post on the thread or send me a PM. Please be aware that any additional guests for either tour will be at the discretion of the operator.

On another note a venue for Sunday's farewell dinner has been selected. I have booked a table at Korean Restaurant Arirang (91-93 Barrack St) at 6:30pm. Menu here. Unlike the other Dinners this will not be a pre-paid activity and you will need to pay your own way. If you could please still confirm your attendance at http://www.trybooking.com/LPLE so we have accurate numbers that would be much appreciated.

Getting very close now!

Wildflower took many restaurant bookings when the review came out for this hotel dining.
The property has been beautifully renovated from the old State Taxation office. I was impressed.
The valet parking worked great for us.

Sadly, I'm now confirmed as a no-show for this. For those who are going, have a great time and post lots of pics.

Just updated my details... now staying at the Hilton, as I figured out I could cancel my bookings and use the AMEX offer of "spend $300, get $150" twice to make my stay very attractive.

Unfortunately our booking was prepaid but we got a great rate for a deluxe room. Can't win them all.

It was great timing , my room works out at a nett price of $93/night with the offer.

We're at $97.50 but are staying 4 nights instead of 2, so simply split the booking down the middle. Hope they wont cause too many issues on Sunday wrt checking out and back in.

It is actually unnecessary to be on two separate bookings (assuming you are paying on check out). You can just ask the hotel to take $300 off one card, and the residual on the other.

With regards to having two bookings (if there is a good reason), then just email the hotel. Most are good at arranging for you to have the same room. NB - With this option it is likely HHONS will credit incorrectly.

Normally that's me... booking the cheapest, most inflexible rate that can't be cancelled, but somehow I lucked out and booked two completely flexible stays this time.

I might leave it alone, but had I known that I would have made one booking.

Something to remember for next time.

I actually took a very roundabout route. Late last night I was researching IHG Ambassador for 'other' purposes, and actived an accelerate offer. Something like 2 weekends, 3 nights, $100 inhouse and I thought I wonder what's available. For a little bit more than what I already had I could get the HI, so I thought screw it, I'll reap the rewards in points, cancelled my existing bookings and booked the HI. Then this morning I saw Shop Small, of course registered, and then had a look at the Hilton offer again, remembering there were some good rates I had a look online and after doing the math it came out half the price of the HI after cashback and just less than my original bookings. Sure, I miss out on the IHG points now, but I also save $400!! :p

Shouldn't be. The front desk at most hotels is generally thrilled to check you out and right back in to the same room, means one less room that a full checkout housekeeping service is needed in. Might have to recode the keycards but that should be it. I've extended reservations a number of times this way (had to switch between using points and cash so needed new reservations each time).

Nobody is more thrilled than me at this news, now my taxi cost is down slightly :D.
