For an event that is two months away, the lack of activity is a little concerning...

Booked Arriving Friday 7 July QF 844 4:20pm
Staying Hilton Darwin
Departing Mon 10 July QF 825 1:30 pm

I was trying to get to this event, I got as far as booking accommodation in anticipation - unfortunately it has become clear I am not going to make it :(

A sad Bronze for me.

Update:

There has been some good progress this week putting some plans in place.

Friday night: A casual dinner/drinks overlooking the water. Pay as you go, and turn up when you like.

Saturday: A tour of a couple of the local attractions, including lunch.

Saturday night: Dinner showcasing some of the Top End's local fare.

There are currently seven (yes, seven!) confirmed for the trip, so if you are planning on coming, please post ASAP. Current attendees are listed in the wiki.

Low numbers means we may be in taxis for the tour on Saturday. Although it does give us an advantage when it comes to dining options.

We have a hire car booked for pick up on Sunday, if numbers stay so low, we could get it a day earlier to use instead of taxi. (and have 2-3 passengers)

Thanks Bindibuys. That may be an option. One of the locals has also offered transport.

At this stage we don't have enough to book a bus, so taxi/hire car is the most flexible option.

Was meant to be golfing in Thailand for my 30th, but my cousin decided to get married then.
So looks like I will be in town :)

The program for the weekend!

Considering the low numbers, all events are 'pay as you go'. No prepayment required.

Friday night

Dinner and drinks on the Deck at Aqua Restaurant, Doubletree by Hilton Esplanade.

The GM for Hilton NT will be dropping by, so a good opportunity to chat about where Hilton is going in Australia.

Turn up when you like!

Saturday

A relaxing start to the day playing with crocodiles at Crocosaurus. This is close to HH/DT/Novatel so walking distance for most.

The park opens at 9.30 and the first presentation is at 10.

$35 adults, $28 seniors

At 1pm we will be heading for the taxi rank and making our way to the Darwin Aviation Museum.

$15 adults, $10 seniors

They will be kicking us out at 5pm when we will head back to our hotels to freshen up before dinner.

Saturday night

Dinner is at Mitchell's Grill at the Hilton with 7pm for drinks and 7.30pm sit down.

We have an area set aside, and we can choose from the main menu - so no need to worry about set menus.

Sunday

No visit to Darwin would be complete without an insight into Cyclone Tracey.

The Darwin Museum and Art Gallery opens at 10am. Perfect for those with an afternoon flight home. ;)

Will anyone be hanging around longer than Sunday afternoon? I could take the yacht out for sunset if anyone is interested?

Hi oh_lo, we are staying until Tuesday afternoon. (DWR-ASP flight)
Monday we are driving down to Katherine for the day.

Can everyone please indicate what events they will be attending? I would hate to drive off and leave someone behind because I didn't know you were coming.

If any locals are attending anything could you post confirmation too please?

My circumstances have changed such that I'll be doing a stint in DRW coinciding with this event... so stick me down as Gold and I'll do my best to attend!
