it is a territory not a state lol

Its label has no bearing on our visit, but I did have a look at what the difference is on Wikipedia, and found that the Commonwealth Parliament can override any legislation in the territories. Quite interesting.

I believe I may have roped in an organiser last night at drinks in BNE.

DRW?

It should be earlier in the year to "lighten" the "build up".

Going very much against the grain, Darwin currently leads with 75.76% of the votes. Previously the highest percentage a city won by was Cairns with 66.67%. The rest have nearly all been well under half the vote, and AFF1 + AFF4 weren't even polled. That said, ADL and SYD are about due for re-do's soon! ;)

PER won with 46% for AFF10

CNS won with 66% for AFF9

MEL won with 40% for AFF8

HBA won with 46% for AFF7

OOL won with 33% for AFF6

CBR won with 38% for AFF5

BNE didn't receive a vote but was agreed upon in thread

SYD won with 47% for AFF3

ADL won with 57% for AFF2

MEL was the innaugural location for AFF1

The difficult part is that, the further and further one gets from the BNE-SYD-MEL-ADL corridor, and/or the smaller and smaller of a location, the more advance notice is needed. You could probably schedule SYD within 6 months of choosing it, similar for ADL. Not too hard to find a few things to do for 30+ people in Sydney on short notice! But DRW, Hamilton Island, cruise, international, those are all going to take more time/planning/organization to put together a quality event. I could put something together in Austin of course without much advance notice (more than enough to do here), but there would need to be at least a year notice so everyone could get flights and leave arranged (and book out all of QF's premium TPAC awards for the time period in question :D). And, of course, Darwin October-April can be quite undesirable. So, you'd be looking at September-October of 2017, only 9-10 months from now. That should be workable, yes, but may require a bit of effort!

Been off a few days getting my lifetime platinum (as noted by a platinum ring on my 4th finger), it looks like I probably don't need to vote. :)

With the DRW climate, we would mostly need to stay in the mid-May to mid-Sep time frame. While it can still be quite hot, at least it would stay dry.

DRW should be quite easy to organise as well. Kakadu is probably a bit too far, but you could do a one-day trip to Litchfield on Sat, with a river cruise seeing crocodiles jumping out of the river early Sun morning and be back in the airport for the midday-2pm departures to various cities.

I've voted for Adelaide as I have been to Darwin three times in the last five or so years :).

If DRW does win, best to avoid peak times such as Darwin Cup etc ...

Agree. Significant military movements and displays also cause hotels to jump in price and book out. Pitch Black was this year, so the next one is 2018 I think?

Darwin cup is actually also a great experience if you like races, etc.

it says poll closed so DRW was the winner

mickeyC your ears must have been burning. At the time you were posting, we were discussing where we would fly out of to get to this gathering. (NTL or SYD)
Now to set a date.
