Thanks to all involved for this. Sitting in the NZ lounge now wating for my flight. Sydney of course did not provide me with the weather I normally expect of it and hopefully it will be a little sunnier in Rio. Look forward to the next Do

Thanks for coming Jeff, was great to meet you :) that lobster sure looked tasty! You'd appreciate the extra distance we both had to cover to make it there ;)

Snapper grilled in lemon butter was also tasty. Didn't look as good as that lovely plate of prawns beside me though.:(

I am sure.... So I'm now intrigued - which destination of ill-repute did you frequent on Oxford St? Enjoyed a bit of Chinese takeaway perhaps? :p

If you're implying that I may have partaken in festivities downstairs at the Shift on a Sunday, then, no. I did not :)

In fact I spent most my time avoiding Oxford St when I lived in Sydney. That said, there are some nice places to eat there now (Thai place on the the corner of Crown I think it was, It's been a while).

I had a friend who was DJ'ing at "Le Walé de stone" so I did visit him occasionally. Oxford Street isn't my bag, baby ;)

Now I'm wishing I had come to lunch instead off dashing off to the train/ferry. I tried to change trains at the wrong station. Once I was on track with trains I then had Dad pick me up because the ferry timetable said the next boat was in 45 minutes. But as we drove past the ferry wharf we saw people boarding the ferry.....

Turns out the ferry people had given me the old timetable on Friday.

Touche, touche... Surprisingly I've never really enjoyed the Melbourne equivalents apart from a few misspent Sunday nites at Love Machine. But it's a different story when overseas/interstate. :D

We didn't actually find many good cafes on Oxford St even though the Westin concierge directed me there for brunch, apart from a nice place that does somewhat ok coffee (for Sydney) and choc-based desserts. Wooloomooloo (sp??) is much nicer for food and coffee. Now Oxford St further on in Paddington is definitely worth checking out for everyone, though your AMEX cards might disagree. ;) The range of stores is better than Chapel St. Better when not rainy of course... not impressed at walking all the way to Incu in the thunderstorm for a specific pair of glasses (they didn't have any left at the city store) only to find the place closed on a Sunday!

I forgot about the raincoat I had in my suitcase. Although it wouldn't have protected me from the ankle deep water on George Street nor from the leak which meant I had to walk through a fountain of water.....

Tell me about it! I was so glad I had my thongs/shorts on, because if I had shoes/socks/jeans then it would have been even worse! Didn't take long for my feet to dry off in the Hilton lobby.

From Taylor Square down towards the city, the café options are somewhat limited. Restaurant options are far better, but if you want shopping then yes, the Paddington end is much better (although I still prefer Chapel Street's ambiance pre-7pm).

As for Melbourne Venues, you're more likely to find me in 1806 than another I live opposite ;) Oh, and Robot. Robot is awesome!

Also, whoever took photos in the FLounge can you PM me and I'll give you my e-mail address; would like a copy :)

And they say Melbourne weather is bad...
