It is now 8 months since Gathering #1 and 5 months since Gathering #2 and now it is time to start putting together Gathering #3. Now that QF009 has twisted my arm, it is time to get the ball rolling on determing a time and place for the event.

In the Gathering # 2 thread a number of suggestions were made, including Sydney, Brisbane and Hobart. Other suggestions included Perth (although Red Bull Air Race is not on this year in Perth, but is back in 2010) and various regional centres.

So before putting this out to a vote, would like to get people ideas on where and when Gathering #3 should take place, so your ideas and thoughts on this thread would be appreciated. In about a weeks time, I will hold a vote based on feedback here which will give us an answer on these very important questions..

Also, anyone who would be willing to help out organising can let me know too :)

So, over to you, Where and When would you like AFF Gathering #3 to take place.

HBA, CBR, SYD in that order. Though really, am not that fussed, and would travel to most places, including left field like AYQ, ASP, DRW, BME etc. (though fares and time may be an issue to those places)

The timing should suit the venue, if you know what I mean...no good going to the beach in Winter...

Happy to help out with the organising, though depending on where it is, not sure what I could contribute.

I think BNE or SYD although would consider other places up or down the eastern seaboard.

In my opinion places like HBA, AYQ, DRW, BME, PER are too expensive for a weekend get together.

Cost and the date chosen would be the two most important factors in my decision making process....

I am for a gathering in an accessible major city we've yet to have it in. So either SYD or BNE as these are cities 1) where a fair number of AFFers reside in (and we can also draw on local knowledge); 2) which are affordable in terms of competitive air fares for the vast majority of AFFers.

Late October or late November would be good for me so uni work doesn't get in the way. :)

Most happy to help with organising wherever I can chip in.

SYD is a good one for those of us in MEL (at least, in terms of doing a FLounge run) - I'm personally not too keen on BNE, but that's mostly because I go there a fair bit as it stands. HBA is a possibility also.

September/October would work well for me.

I'm actually torn between BNE and SYD. I've never been to BNE (so called up and coming hip city in my circles) and it's a longer flight so probably better value for AMEX free flight redemption, but there are *wood hotels and an opportunity to Flounge if it's SYD. :D

I'd be interested too subject to timing as there is a lot of travel coming up until year end. October would be best for me. My preferences would be CBR, SYD or BNE. I think CBR is a good suggestion too, Flashware.

I think BNE would put it out of reach for me this year due to funds being otherwise tied up with other things... BNE is just that little bit pricier than getting to CBR and SYD.

That being said, I think hotel prices in CBR may be the killer.....

Having a bit of a read through this, October looks like a bit of a wiinner on the timing front.

if October then definitely BNE

if before September then definitely SYD

would love to make this event while still in Australia! (on a budget of course)

CBR or SYD for me. Sep/Oct sounds good as well. If in either of these places I am definitely there. Timing not so important.

Hi there

Where : Thinking outside the square here, How about Auckland?, Easy and cheap to get to from the eastern cities (EK, DJ, JQ, LA, QF), meet up with our kiwi friends, they can come to AUS next time round.

When : Melbourne Cup weekend (31/10-03/11) is good for me.

Anyway just my 2 bob's worth.

Cheers
