AFF Gathering #7 at HBA on 29 November - 1 December

I have spoken to Cascade and am still working on being able to book the tour online. I should know by midweek if it is possible.

The complication is they only run the one 2.15pm tour on a Saturday if required, and if they allow online booking it is open to the public. The solution may mean that payment is made to the bank account we have setup, and I pay a deposit this week to confirm the tour.

As soon as I have the details for this sorted I will publish the account info for payment for the dinner ($75), the bus ($15) and if necessary, Cascade ($15/$20/$25).

See post #2 of this thread for information on Saturday's itinerary and dinner.

Remember that MONA and the 11am ferry are to be paid online direct using the links in post #2.

I see we are catching the 11:00 am ferry to MONA. Are we catching the ferry back, and if so for what time do we book?
Have a look at post #2 of this thread for the details. Basically, Ferry to MONA, then bus to city to drop off and then to Cascade. The ferry is available if you don't want to do the tour of Cascade or get the bus back to the city.

The plan is that at 1.30pm a chartered bus will take us from MONA to the Cascade Brewery tour, via the city to drop off those who do not wish to attend. Details on Post #2

Time to try and cash in a brownie point now that we are within 6 weeks and can firm up "our" social diary ;). Will try and reduce the pain by organising work in MEL either side (depends on $ for hotels)

I regret to say that I will have to be down graded to bronze for this year's event. Been trying to wiggle my way out of a family reunion in Malaysia that is happening on the same weekend but mum has been giving me the serious guilt trip. Have been really looking forward to visiting Hobart for the first time ever and catching up with you fine people. But unfortunately family has trumped this.

That is a shame. Could you argue that it is an AFF family reunion?

Payment details

To avoid putting the bank account details on public display they are at the top of this Google Docs link. This document is set to view only, so you won't be able to change any of the details.

The cost is $75 for dinner, $15 for the bus, and $15/$20/$25 for the Cascade Brewery tour.

Please use your AFF username as the payment reference. I will check the account every few days and update the spreadsheet accordingly. I will also post who has paid and for what on this thread.

I should be able to work out from the amount paid what you are paying for, but you are welcome to PM me just to be sure. E.g. I have paid $115 which is $75 dinner + $15 bus, leaving $25 which must therefore be an adult brewery ticket.

Payment is required in full by November 22.

MONA

You may book and pay for these tickets individually online on the MONA website. However, I enquired about the new Qantas sponsorship of MONA, and the 2 for 1 offer is available at the venue. Details on the Qantas website. Basically, produce your QFF card and get two tickets for the price of one. This offer is not available online, so you will have to queue up on the day to take advantage of it. I will advise MONA of our arrival time and numbers so they should have sufficient staff on hand to avoid too much of a delay.

MONA Ferry

You will need to book and pay for this online as there are limited places. Make sure you select the 11am ferry from Hobart to MONA at the latest. The return ticket is the same price as one way, so if you do not wish to go on the brewery tour, this is the cheaper option (make sure you book it as a return fare). Bookings on the MONA Ferry website.

Bus

The bus is $15 and will leave MONA at 1.30pm SHARP. It will travel into the city to one drop-off/pick-up point and then onto Cascade Brewery. At the conclusion of the tour (about 3.45pm) the bus will return to the city and will be able to drop us off at a couple of locations.

If you do not wish to go to MONA or are arriving late, but would like to visit the brewery please PM me so we can co-ordinate collection from a central point in the city.

The Cascade Brewery Tour

See this link for the details. The cost breakdown is as follows:

$15 for Tasmanian residents with a drivers licence to prove it.
$20 for students (secondary or tertiary) or seniors with suitable ID to prove it.
$25 for the rest of us.

Participants must be over 16 years of age and there are dress requirements "Everyone must wear long trousers, flat fully enclosed shoes, no dangly jewellery." So no skirts, shorts or sandals.

The tour takes 1 & 1/2 hours and includes 3x drink tokens.

As the maximum number of participants on the tour is 20, I have tentatively booked two tours for 2.15pm. I will need to inform the brewery by November 15 of numbers, so if you have not paid by then, please let me know if you are planning on attending so I can hold a spot for you.

If you are going on the brewery tour, you will need to pay for the bus as well. If you just wish to return to the city after the MONA visit then you may catch the return ferry (same price as one way) or pay for the bus which will be stopping in the city to collect any latecomers.

Now to find a +1 to get a cheap MONA ticket!

Happy to be your other half Jessica. I will transfer $75 for dinner only. I'm not really interested in the brewery so will probably stay longer at MONA and get the ferry back. I will be there for brunch; no golf; but open to suggestions for 'other' as I don't leave until Monday.

No worries.

(Thanks samh004 for pointing out my poor maths skills - since corrected)

I have said 11am ferry at the latest, as there is a 9.30am ferry for those who do not wish to spend too long at the Salamanca Market. I will be on the 11am ferry, which allows 2 hours at the gallery. There are cafes at the gallery, but I expect I will be trying too many treats in the market to be too hungry.

Money transferred, and ferry booked for 11:00 ret 15:00. You can 'yes' me for Friday drinks as well. Thanks.

I will be doing the dinner and Mona, but I don't drink beer so the brewery is not of much interest to me. I'll transfer money next pay, its been an expensive fortnight for me  Feel free to remind me!

If anyone wants to be my MONA +1, let me know :D

Ditto.
