Great eateries close by. My fav was an Italian joint near a pub - names escape me at present.

I suspect you are referring to Da Angelo, which is across the road from the Prince of Wales; alternatively you may be thinking of Maldini. Both are pretty good (the latter a little more upmarket).

Absolutely correct !!!

Yes agree with Maldini but I did like the family atmosphere of Da Angelo

I knew about 4 months ago I was going to have a clash of events, and I was still interested in attending so I booked some non refundable accommodation.

But now I am going to have to officially dowgrade my attendance to Bronze.

It would have been nice to see a few of you over the weekend, including jswong, straitman, samh004 and a few others but things just weren't going to work out.

I hope you all have a fun weekend.

We really do need a 'dis-like' button.

Sorry that you won't be able to make it. Perhaps someone can take the accommodation off your hands.

I have been working with the organisers to organise a suitable guest speaker and believed that I and a great guest speaker lined up (Richard de Crespigny) but unfortunately he is now unable able to attend.

Richard has however made an offer to write a cover letter to your group and put it in signed copies of the QF32 book (other groups do this). He will do this for $30 plus shipping. Richard is also put a link to the AFF#7 function on his web site.

If anyone is interested could they please send me a PM?

I'm now searching frantically for an alternate speaker but it is hard with only two weeks remaining.

Thanks for all the work you have done in the background, Bill. Without either QF and VA coming onboard at the dinner, it has been a bit of a struggle trying to tie someone down.

There are a couple of options still being canvassed, but failing that, we may just turn the dinner into an Admin/Support/Moderator Q and A session. (You have been warned)!

Thanks to straitman , JessicaTam and other organisers for their attempts to obtain a guest speaker...the gentleman in charge of QF32 would have been awesome - but I am quite sure we will have a great weekend with just each others' company! So don't stress! :)

JessicaTam , I just paid for Lark , as per our PM discussion . Thanks

Monies received from Anna.

We now have 13 confirmed for dinner. Remember that the final cutoff for payment is Friday 22nd - that's next Friday.

Looking at post #3, there are still a few Platinums that need a little nudge!

Lark monies received from samh004 x 2, Doug Westcott and tuapekastar. I am waiting for BB to acknowledge payment from me, gwilli1 and Blackcat20. Spreadsheet has been updated accordingly.

That gives us 7 for the Lark Distillery. I need to get back to them on Monday with at least 10, so if you are coming, please let me know ASAP so I can confirm (even if you have already given an expression of interest when the idea was first mooted). If we don't get to 10, then of course there is a full refund. (And a sad face from me).

I'm happy to do Lark four times if that will help! :).

Seriously, if we can't do it, well that's a shame but will not detract from the weekend. Hopefully a few others will step up to the plate shortly.

I said I'd do the Lark if we needed the numbers, so it looks like I'm in. I'll fix up the payment tonight.

I have had a PM with two more takers for Lark. That makes 9, so Cat207 hold off paying for now as we may get more. I will keep you on the reserve list 'just in case'. Unless you really want to go, of course.

Jess I have just confirmed and paid $130, Dinner, Cascade and Lark. So looks like is locked in.
Looking forward to meeting everyone in my home town.
