May be I'll just slump it in a QF 738, at least this one is free ($22, plus receiving 800 points and 10 SCs in return), and I'll fly out in the morning and organise lunch in SYD with an acquaintance.

Am I missing some special way to get QF flights for $22?

Yes and no. It's widely available, but difficult to replicate. It's more to do with where I'm based in and my routing. SIN-MEL-xSYD-SIN is roughly $22 AUD more than SIN-MEL, SYD-SIN. So it's easily obtained, as long as you're starting a return trip from an international location. I was actually expecting it to be completely free of charge, but I think they have some more fees/taxes for an overnight "transit" (staying in SYD for the night before heading back to SIN).

I can certainly play, if there is no real check of handicap at the course (i don't have one, but can certainly play though).

Looks like it became the norm. I was trying to book JQ4 unsuccessfully in recent weeks.

I guess that makes sense now, why the base fare for JQ508 suddenly shot up to $259 the other day. They just offloaded everyone to it. So is everyone sticking with JQ or taking a refund and heading back to the marsupial?

I shall be asking for money back on my card, as I'm not flying with Jetstar, I'll just fly home all the way on Qantas.

Cynic in me thinks they may re-add the flight back later anyway. I'll just price beat then

My apologies JohnK. Would have loved to have caught up for a hit and of course the 19th but I will be in GOT the week before at a conference and will be in London this weekend of AFF #8. Therefore a definite Bronze for the gathering.
