The Tramcar restaurant is good fun with nice food and unlimited alcohol (they really make sure your glass of full ALL the time). I did it a few times with friends from overseas and they all loved the experience. It's very popular with tourists, especially the 5 course dinner service.

I have done the Tram Car twice and would be happy to do it a third time. The food isn't to bad and the drinks are included. Friday night may be good considering it requires advance notice.
I would be happy with:
Late Dinner (Fri) – 5 Course Meal
8:35 – 11:30 pm$137.5 per person

That does allow interstate travellers to fly in and make the Friday dinner.

Warm-up drinks could be held in a bar nearby, with cat herding to begin around 7:45-8:00pm, with a view to being lined up and accounted for by 8:15pm SHARP.

I think that while cool, the tramcar may be a little expensive and hard to confirm so soon. We've got a lot of Platinums and Golds already, but I'm being told it needs to be booked ASAP, which may be a little too soon unfortunately.

Happy to go with the consensus though.

Might need to place a call to dad... except I can't, he's on his way to CMB ;)

How long is he there for? I might be there Saturday :p

Does he enter the country or head to the lounge and turn back like some others over here :P

He has entered it before, but pretty much does what everyone else here does ;)

I believe it was the groundwork for a future UK trip.

Not sure how long he'll be there this time.

from my conversation with him it's more likely the latter :)

edit to add: I see sam got in before me

When it comes to the actual activities, count me out - I will be licking my wallets wounds having spent the few weeks before traveling Asia... Drinking, on the other hand, I will be there with bells on.... Bells made out of empty whiskey bottles....

A question was raised to me about activities recently and as far as I know, they're still being decided. However, if you happen to know of any industry rep you think would like to speak to the group, please don't hesitate to post here, or PM an organiser.

Please colour myself and +1 as Gold.

I have made flexible bookings at HOTP on Friday and HSW on Saturday just in case ;).
If I've already maintained Diamond by then I may change those bookings.

One idea is to combine this gathering with the [Monthly] Sunday Yum Cha events.

So Sunday would look like this:
Morning
Option A: Golf (7:30am - 1pm)
Option B: Yum Cha (12pm - 2pm)

Afternoon
Option A: Something XX (city activity / museum visit / ??)
Option B: Airport lounge crawl for those departing

~7pm - Dinner for those still in Melbourne (probably target a different cuisine from those on Friday & Saturday)

I am still thinking about Saturday activities.

I would love to get to the Yarra Valley or Mornington Peninsula, but given the time constraints of the weekend, I am not sure how feasible this is.
