Those requiring pickup, please exit the terminal, and head towards the right to the designated "Public Pick Up / Drop Off" area.

Best way to get me is via SMS / call. If you don't have my number, please PM me.

Awesome, thanks!

When coming into Cairns airport if you look across to the North-West of the airfield you can see a piece of Aviation History. The last flying Shorts Belfast is parked on the apron. A significant forerunner to many modern cargo planes.

Operated by Heavylift, I believe this aircraft has now been retired from active charter service, and repainted, but she's still airworthy and can fly.

You can often see Heavylift's ATRs parked adjacent to the Belfast which are used for passenger charter services around the region (e.g. FIFO workers).

So as to not confuse people when they arrive, there's a larger pick-up area opposite the orange part marked "T2 Covered". The area marked blue is a bit further south and is the usual drop-off area, though of course, there's nothing stopping you from walking further down to that area to be picked-up.

Rumour has it that a certain member is travelling to CNS direct, where a connecting flight was available.

Indeed, as we would like to make the most of the day, having not been there before. Be assured that we are taking connecting flights home.

Rumour has it you're on the same flight as a work colleague of mine tomorrow :p

FWIW, I've checked in online to a King Executive room (#917) at the Hilton...I declined their kind offer of a standby paid request for a spa suite...

We're on the same floor (I'm in #901).

From the Hilton App for the DT:

Looks like there are 2 AFF'ers on the 6th floor already, so I've opted for there as well.

Because we are antisocial (actually more because of swanning_it's post #304 upthread, and the fact that we are very keen snorkellers), we are going to spend all Sunday snorkelling at Michaelmas Cay. We are booked with the company below:
Itinerary | Passions Of Paradise

We will see those still here in the Hilton Exec lounge on Sunday evening, probably suffering sunstroke and seasickness :)

At Doubletree:
Level 6 is the "HHonors Floor". General suggestion is to stay there as those rooms all have amenities and newspapers by default. Rooms on other floors do not automatically have amenities, the staff need to remember to do it.

At Hilton:
Level 9 is Exec Floor and Exec Lounge (and 2x Spa Suites, 1x Premier Suite) - rooms have full set of amenities.
Level 8 is Spa Rooms (and a few Spa Suites) - rooms have full set of amenities.
Regular floors below - not all amenities (e.g. available on request)
